Fuvahmulah stands as one of the Maldives’ most remarkable marine environments. Its unique oceanic ecosystem supports an extraordinary diversity of marine life, including iconic shark species, pelagic fish, sea turtles, and healthy coral habitats. These waters are not only a source of natural heritage and scientific value but also the foundation of sustainable tourism and local livelihoods.
Together, we can ensure that Fuvahmulah remains a global symbol of ocean conservation and a living example of how strong marine protected areas help secure the health and prosperity of our ocean.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Fuvahmulah City Council organized a bamboo planting program followed by an information session on air layering. Students from the Environmental Clubs of local schools actively participated in this event.
During the program, students learned bamboo planting techniques and were introduced to the process of air layering, a method of propagating new trees from a parent plant. The session provided knowledge aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable greening efforts.
Students were encouraged to share these techniques with their peers, practice air layering on their own, and contribute to a greener future by planting and nurturing trees within their homes.
This event served as a meaningful opportunity to inspire young environmental advocates and foster a deeper appreciation for nature and conservation.
