Mariyam Ahmed, Project Coordinator at Maldives Digital Services, presented the Maldives Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report, published by UNESCO in 2025, at the launch of the National AI and Data Competency Centre ( Maldives AI Lab), held at JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La.
The assessment highlights the Maldives’ strong digital foundations and ongoing progress, while also identifying key areas that require coordinated action: particularly in governance, data protection, cybersecurity, capacity building, inclusion, and public trust.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into public services, education, business, and everyday life, its responsible adoption will depend on strong institutions, a skilled workforce, trusted data, and safeguards that reflect national values.
Maldives Digital Services remains committed to supporting the responsible, inclusive, and trusted adoption of AI across the Maldives.
