Official page of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), the main opposition political party in the Maldives. Founded in 2011 by Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, and headed currently by Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, PPM held a parliamentary majority in the 2014 parliamentary elections. The Party, along with coalition partner People's National Congress (PNC), is the
minority party in the current Maldives' parliament. Espousing neo-conservative values, PPM promotes democracy, rule of law and good governance in the Maldives. Credited with a strong economy and youth oriented policy platform, the Party's core values are encapsulated by the "Nation First" tagline. With a verified membership accounting for nearly a fifth of the country's population, PPM holds the record for the most consecutive electoral wins in contemporary Maldivian politics. PPM is affiliated to like-minded political parties and organisations from across the world, including the ERCP umbrella of global conservative parties.
