On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2026, the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council extends heartfelt appreciation and warm wishes to all nurses across the Maldives and around the world.

This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” reminds us of the importance of supporting nurses through continuous professional development, leadership opportunities, safe working environments, and wellbeing initiatives.

To every nurse serving in hospitals, health centres, communities, schools, and homes, thank you for your invaluable contribution to healthcare and for the kindness and hope you bring to so many lives every day.

Today is International Day of the Midwife, a time to recognise and celebrate the dedication, compassion, and invaluable contributions of midwives around the world.

This year’s theme, “One Million More Midwives,” is a powerful reminder that the world needs more midwives, supported, valued, and empowered to continue their life-changing work for mothers, babies, women, and families everywhere.

Midwives are the cornerstone of maternal and newborn care, offering support guidance, and skilled midwifery care through one of life’s most profound journeys. Their dedication plays a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of mothers, newborns, and families across communities.

On this special day, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the passionate midwives in the Maldives for their commitment, compassion, care, and service to our communities.

Happy International Day of the Midwife!
