A few words by our CEO Dr Mariyam Shakeela

Today, we mark a monumental milestone – the 19th Anniversary of International Medical and Diagnostic Center IMDC. As we step into our 2nd decade, I take a moment to reflect on our journey with profound gratitude and humility. IMDC's path was paved with skepticism, doubt, and challenges, yet our commitment to serving humanity, especially those who lacked access, voice, or choice, proved stronger. This institution was never just a dream to me; it was a promise to my beloved Addu and its deserving community that demanded dignified, compassionate healthcare at their doorstep. I am deeply humbled by the trust of our patients, the selflessness of our doctors and all staff members, and the visionary leadership of our Executive Management team, at SIMDI, particularly our Chairperson Ibrahim Mohamed Didi whose unwavering faith in me (despite feeling that I had a nut loose in my head) has been my greatest strength. To the SIMDI executive team, led by Mishal Didi Yooshau Saeed, your dedication has been the driving force behind this venture. Mariyam Ameeza Thuhthu Maniku for your tireless efforts in overseeing day-to-day activities, despite the distance and often patiently standing at the recieving end of my frustrations. As I reflect on our almost two decades, I have not forgotten the pioneering doctors who worked at IMDC struggling to keep it afloat, especially Dr KP Dinakaran, Dr Fauziah Gaphur, Dr Sunil Kumar Elankath, Dr.asoke Mathew, Dr Ashutosh Bahulekar,Dr Dharampalsingh Sudan, and many others. I extend my humble and most sincere gratitude to each and everyone of you. Your resilience and commitment as a team, are the pillars that hold us strong. Purpose, persevrance and the unwavering support of our full team has been one of my stringest guiding force.

This anniversary is a celebration of our collective journey, a testament to service, integrity, and the quiet courage that defines us. May sincerity continue to guide us, unity strengthen us, and blessings be upon our mission to serve. With heartfelt gratitude and unyielding resolve…..e

🇵🇹 Last week in Lisbon, ICAN, in partnership with KAICIID convened 21 members of the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL) for the “Our Strategies, Our Peace: Women Peacebuilders in their Own Words” Writers’ Workshop.
