NATIONAL CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP ON THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC RECOVERY PLAN (NERP) 2025–2030
The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralization (MoFEPD) wishes to inform the general public and all key stakeholders that the Government of Malawi will convene a National Consultative Workshop on the Draft National Economic Recovery Plan (NERP) 2025–2030 on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 from 8:30 AM at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe. The Workshop will be chaired by Honourable Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation and will be moderated by Mr. Phillip Madinga, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Standard Bank Malawi, President of Bankers Association of Malawi and Board Member of National Planning Commission (NPC).
The National Economic Recovery Plan (NERP) has been developed as a strategic framework aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, accelerating economic growth, addressing fiscal and debt challenges, enhancing food security, strengthening the external sector, and safeguarding vulnerable populations. The Plan outlines immediate, short-term, and medium-term policy interventions intended to restore economic resilience and prosperity in line with Malawi 2063 aspirations.
The consultative workshop forms part of Government’s commitment to ensuring that the recovery plan benefits from broad-based stakeholder engagement and national ownership. The meeting will, therefore, bring together representatives from:
- Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs);
- Development Partners;
- the private sector (MCCI);
- academia and research institutions;
- civil society organizations;
- professional bodies;
- and other key stakeholders.
The Ministry, therefore, wishes to invite the above mentioned stakeholders including the general public to the Consultative Workshop to contribute towards shaping a credible and inclusive economic recovery roadmap for Malawi.
