The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) today held a high-level management meeting at its headquarters as part of preparations for tomorrow’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The meeting focused on strengthening the party, consolidating its structures, sharpening its political strategy and setting a clear direction for the party’s future.

With the NEC meeting expected to deliberate on key political and organisational matters, MCP leadership is positioning the party for stronger coordination, renewed unity and a more focused approach to advancing its political agenda.

The work starts now. The strategy must be clear, the party must remain united, and every member must play their part. Together, let us rebuild, strengthen and position MCP for the road ahead.

Hon. Chimwendo Banda has not resigned from his position as Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party.

Those eyeing the position must follow party procedures and wait for the next convention to compete.

The Sixth President of the Republic of Malawi who's also Malawi Congress Party President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is attending the burial ceremony of the late Mrs. Medrina Muula Ching'oma.

Mrs. Ching'oma is the mother of the former Minister of Homeland Security and former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Publicity Secretary, Ezekiel Peter Ching'oma .

The ceremony is taking place at Thumbe-Sangaambe village, Traditional Authority Chitekwere in Lilongwe East.

Dr. Chakwera has been accompanied by senior MCP officials and members of parliament.

​Uncertainty grew after state media outlet MBC Digital published and quickly deleted a story on his departure, while other local outlets confirmed the travel.
