MINISTER MWANAMVEKHA COMMENDS MRA STAFF AT DEDZA BORDER FOR DILIGENCE AND MEETING REVENUE TARGETS
The Honourable Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, MP, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, yesterday commended officers of the Malawi Revenue Authority at the Dedza Border for their professionalism, commitment and for consistently meeting revenue collection targets.
The Minister made the remarks during a working visit to the border post. The purpose of the visit was to appreciate the daily challenges faced by staff and to find practical solutions to improve service delivery.
One of the key challenges raised was the shortage of computers, which slows down operations and puts extra pressure on officers.
Hon. Mwanamvekha assured the team that under the leadership of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the Democratic Progressive Party administration, these challenges will be addressed as a matter of priority. He noted that a well-equipped and motivated workforce is central to increasing government revenue and protecting the economy.
Accompanying the Minister were Dr. Cliff Chiunda, Secretary to the Treasury, and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance.
The Minister applauded the MRA staff at Dedza for their patriotism and hard work. He said their contribution is vital to building a stronger Malawi, where public services are funded and development projects are delivered on time.
The DPP administration remains committed to supporting frontline institutions like the MRA with the necessary tools and resources so that officers can serve Malawians with efficiency, integrity and pride.
