The Greenbelt Authority (GBA) is attending the 19th India Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi, India. The Conclave has provided a huge opportunity for GBA to engage with potential investors particularly those interested in large scale commercial irrigation farming and agro-processing.

Led by CEO, Eric Dudley Chidzungu, GBA has held Business to Business meetings with potential investors including Bajaj ProcessPack Limited (a company that sets agro-processing infrastructure for different value chains and solar powered irrigation systems), Jaipur Bio Fertiliser Limited (a fertilizer production company), and a tractor manufacturing company, Escorts Kubota Limited.

GBA continues engaging serious investors and financiers ready to develop irrigation infrastructure as well as agro-processing facilities for value addition in order to contribute to Malawi's economic growth.

The Greenbelt Authority is sensitizing community members in its impact areas across the country on issues of fraud and corruption prevention.

Speaking during a fraud and corruption prevention sensitization meeting at Nkhatabay District Council, the Authority's Institutional Integrity Committee Chairperson Rachel Silungwe said the Authority takes financial prudence very seriously.

Said Silungwe, "the aim of Government in giving us money to work with is that we should use it to deliver planned services to its people, so we do not condone any corrupt practices that would rob the people of their intended benefits".

District Commissioner for Nkhatabay Rodgers Newa has commended the Authority for the commitment to educate its project beneficiaries on ills of corruption and prevention measures.

The Greenbelt Authority instituted an Institutional Integrity Committee which handles issues of fraud and corrupt practices with an aim of amplifying its non-compromise stance against corruption in its operations. This is inline with the current ACB strategy.

Today, the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Honourable Owen Chomanika, M.P, inspected Nchalo irrigation scheme where the Greenbelt Authority is rehabilitating the 150Ha scheme to prepare for Maize production in the 2024 winter season.

The Deputy Minister expressed excitement at the progress made and most importantly expects to see the Maize planted in the field.

GBA's Planning Manager Frank Chidampamba told the Minister that the Authority is working tirelessly to ensure that maize is produced at the scheme before this year’s winter season ends.

The Authority is utilizing every golden opportunity to engage with key players in Corporate Governance, providing insights and seeking guidance to enforce the Organisation's good performance.

This was the prevalent phrase when members of the Greenbelt Authority Institutional Integrity Committee took their oaths this weekend.

The five member committee took the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy which are key to their delivery of services in the fight against corruption in an impartial and responsible manner.

The committee was established earlier in April and having undergone a thorough orientation it is poised to take the lead in corruption prevention and fight at the Greenbelt Authority.
