🌸 Women’s Health, Dignity & Rights: Advancing Equity and Action 🌸

Today, we join the world in commemorating the International Day of Women’s Health and Menstrual Hygiene Day 💖

Every woman and girl deserves dignity, safety, quality healthcare, and the freedom to make informed choices about their bodies and reproductive health!

Women’s health is not just a medical issue — it is a human rights and gender issue. Every woman and girl has the right to:
✨ Access accurate sexual and reproductive health information
✨ Receive respectful and confidential healthcare
✨ Self-determined family planning and access to maternal health services
✨ Live free from violence, discrimination, and stigma

German Development Cooperation in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation works towards strengthening reproductive health services for women and girls. These efforts include:
✔ Training health workers to provide gender-sensitive and respectful care
✔ Reaching girls and young women with menstrual hygiene education and products
✔ Mobile Outreach Clinics for easier access to family planning and other quality SRHR
services in rural areas
✔ Empowering young people to co create and disseminate positive, youth led messages on
SRHR, HIV, and GBV through music, media, and print
✔ Strengthening community engagement and dialogue with local and religious leaders to
provide enabling environment for youths to access and make informed decisions for SRHR

As we reflect on this important day, let us continue to:
💙 Promote reproductive health rights for all women and girls
💚 Strengthen menstrual health education
💛 Improve access to sexual and reproductive health services
💜 Protect dignity, equality, and wellbeing for every woman and girl

Healthy women build stronger families, communities, and nations ✨

Peer learning among neighbours – Mozambican delegation studies Adult Education in Malawi 📚

A group of 14 representatives from governmental and non-governmental adult education structures in Mozambique visited Malawi this week 🤝. The visit is part of DVV International’s efforts to strengthen sustainable structures for adult education in Southern Africa.

DVV International, the 🇩🇪 German Adult Education Association, implements projects both in Malawi and Mozambique. The Mozambican delegation was mainly composed of representatives from Malawi’s neighbouring Tete province, where people share a common language with Chichewa 🗣️. It was the objective of the study trip to understand the local structures that offer adult education in Malawi: the Community Learning Centres (CLC) 🏫. CLCs offer basic vocational skills trainings for graduates of state-run literacy programmes, but they also provide integrated literacy programmes that combine reading, writing ✍️, and calculations ➕ skills with practical knowledge that helps learners to generate an income or deal with everyday problems.

Besides visits to the Malawian partner ministry and the German Embassy, the visitors headed to Ntchisi, Dowa, and Mchinji Districts. There, they received first-hand information about CLC management and exchanged with teachers, students, graduates, and district representatives 👩‍🏫👨‍🎓. The experiences gained will help DVV International’s Mozambican partners to establish similar structures in their local context 🌟.

☕🌍 Happy International Tea Day! 🌱🇲🇼🇩🇪

From the lush tea estates of Malawi to tea cups across Germany, tea connects farmers, families, cultures, and economies.

Malawi remains one of Africa’s proud tea producers, known for its rich flavors and hardworking farming communities. Meanwhile, Germany continues to be an important consumer market where millions enjoy tea every day. 🍃🫖

Today, we celebrate not only the drink we love, but also the people behind every leaf — the growers, pickers, traders, and tea lovers who keep this global tradition alive. 🌍💚

Let’s continue supporting sustainable agriculture, fair trade, and African products on the global stage. ✨

☕🍃
