Books open minds. Stories bring people together. 📚🌍

1️⃣ One recent example was the African Book Festival Berlin 2026 🇩🇪, which brought together writers, creatives, and book lovers from across Africa and its diaspora. Under the theme “Welcome to the Club – Curated by YOU!”, audiences helped shape conversations and celebrate African and Afro-diasporic literature.

2️⃣ The festival reflects Germany’s broader commitment to international exchange through initiatives that connect people, ideas, and cultures. Organisations such as the ​​ (German Academic Exchange Service) support these connections by enabling students, researchers, and academics from around the world to learn from one another.

3️⃣ Through cultural, academic, and literary exchange, Germany and Africa continue to foster dialogue, learning, and lasting partnerships. 🤝🌍

Because football has never been just a game... ⚽🌍

This week, we celebrated World Football Day — and more than 100 years since the first truly international football tournament took place in Paris 🇫🇷.

Football is a force that connects people across borders, cultures, and generations. From local community pitches to the world’s biggest stadiums, football creates opportunity, pride, belonging, and hope.

From Germany 🇩🇪 to Africa 🌍, the beautiful game continues to build bridges through grassroots partnerships, youth empowerment, and coaching exchange. In Ghana 🇬🇭, for example, Dortmund​’s academy in Accra is helping create pathways for young players, including scholarship opportunities for underprivileged talent. 🇩🇪🤝🇬🇭⚽

From Germany’s ​ World Cup triumphs to South Africa 🇿🇦 hosting the first FIFA World Cup on African soil, football continues to unite us in ways few things can.

And now, Europe’s biggest showdown awaits this weekend: Arsenal 🔴 or PSG - Paris Saint-Germain 🔵 — who will reign supreme? 👀🏆

With the many conflicts and wars around the world, UN Peacekeepers matter more than ever.

🌍 Every day, thousands of UN 🇺🇳 peacekeepers stand on the frontlines of peace, protecting communities, supporting stability, and helping create the conditions for a safer future.

Today, more than 60,000 military, police, and civilian personnel serve in UN peace operations worldwide, working alongside regional partners, including the Union​, to address some of the world's most complex challenges.

On , we honour their courage, professionalism, and dedication. Germany 🇩🇪 remains one of the largest supporters of UN peacekeeping globally, contributing more than 6% of the UN peacekeeping budget and supporting international efforts through training, expertise, and personnel deployments.

🌸 Women’s Health, Dignity & Rights: Advancing Equity and Action 🌸

Today, we join the world in commemorating the International Day of Women’s Health and Menstrual Hygiene Day 💖

Every woman and girl deserves dignity, safety, quality healthcare, and the freedom to make informed choices about their bodies and reproductive health!

Women’s health is not just a medical issue — it is a human rights and gender issue. Every woman and girl has the right to:
✨ Access accurate sexual and reproductive health information
✨ Receive respectful and confidential healthcare
✨ Self-determined family planning and access to maternal health services
✨ Live free from violence, discrimination, and stigma

German Development Cooperation in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation works towards strengthening reproductive health services for women and girls. These efforts include:
✔ Training health workers to provide gender-sensitive and respectful care
✔ Reaching girls and young women with menstrual hygiene education and products
✔ Mobile Outreach Clinics for easier access to family planning and other quality SRHR
services in rural areas
✔ Empowering young people to co create and disseminate positive, youth led messages on
SRHR, HIV, and GBV through music, media, and print
✔ Strengthening community engagement and dialogue with local and religious leaders to
provide enabling environment for youths to access and make informed decisions for SRHR

As we reflect on this important day, let us continue to:
💙 Promote reproductive health rights for all women and girls
💚 Strengthen menstrual health education
💛 Improve access to sexual and reproductive health services
💜 Protect dignity, equality, and wellbeing for every woman and girl
