We are proud to have been recognised as the Most Impactful in Agriculture at the Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi (REIAMA) Energy Conference held on Thursday of last week.

The award recognises FISD’s contribution to using renewable energy to raise agricultural production, reduce losses, and add value on the farm and beyond the farm gate.

This morning we are inspiring the Next Generation through Irrigation Engineering

We are proud to have been invited by Good Shepherd International School (GSIS) to engage and inspire students through a presentation on the exciting world of irrigation engineering.

Representing FISD, our Construction Director, Mr. Frank Mwenechanya, today ia sharing insights with students aged 10–18 on how modern irrigation engineering, technology and innovation are transforming agriculture and contributing to sustainable development.

The session, being held under GSIS’s theme “Excellence, Innovation and Growth,” is featuring practical insights and real-world applications, encouraging students to explore careers in engineering, agriculture, technology and environmental sustainability.

At FISD, we are honoured to contribute to initiatives that nurture curiosity, innovation and problem-solving among young people. We believe that inspiring young minds today is investing in the engineers, innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Today, the Minister of Energy, Hon. Jean Mathanga, commissioned the Phata Sugarcane Outgrowers Cooperative Solar PV System, designed and implemented by FISD Limited with funding from GIZ.

The solar power system is supporting key operations, including powering the cooperative’s irrigation pivot systems, providing a sustainable and efficient energy solution for agricultural production.

This is another step towards sustainable energy, resilient agriculture and innovative irrigation.

Proud to share that today we officially handed over the Mkalazombe Irrigation Scheme in TA Mizinga, Machinga District, to the Machinga District Council.

Funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and constructed by FISD Limited, the 10-hectare irrigation scheme is designed to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture, support sustainable irrigation farming and improve access to potable water for the local farming community.

The handover marks an important milestone in efforts to empower communities with reliable water and irrigation infrastructure, enabling farmers to increase agricultural productivity and enhance their livelihoods.

At FISD, we remain committed to delivering sustainable and innovative irrigation solutions that transform communities and contribute to a more productive and resilient Malawi.

FISD Limited — 20 Years of Irrigation Excellence

Construction works on the Makanjira Water Supply Scheme, where FISD Limited Company is the contractor for the Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) project, continue to progress steadily.

The project is set to improve access to reliable and safe water for over 60,000 people, and the progress on site is bringing this goal closer to reality.

Current works and milestones at the treatment works as shown in the pictures include:

1. Installation of rapid sand filter laterals
2. Installation of rapid sand filter nozzles
3. Installation of service pumps at the treatment works is in progress
4. Pumped water flowing into the aerator at the treatment works
5. Water flowing into one of the flocculators
6. Water flowing into one of the sedimentation tanks
7. Progress at the intake pumping sump

These developments mark important stages in the construction and commissioning of the water treatment infrastructure, as FISD continues to deliver quality engineering works in line with the project requirements.

Work is progressing steadily on the Embangweni Water Supply Scheme, a transformative project that will bring safe, reliable and sustainable water to 10,000 people who have lived without access to safe water for generations.

The project includes:
4 boreholes providing the water source
Solar-powered pumping system for sustainable water supply

90m³ water storage tank

Approximately 5km of water distribution pipeline
17 water points serving communities across the area

A treated piped-water supply system designed to provide safe water to the community

For the people of Embangweni, this is more than infrastructure. It is access to safe water, improved health, dignity and a better quality of life.
