On 4 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Amararam Gujar interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Blantyre, including members of the business community.

The interaction provided an opportunity to diaspora members to discuss their welfare related matters and share their perspectives, experiences and concerns.

The High Commissioner conveyed his appreciation for the community’s enduring commitment and valuable contribution to Malawi’s socio-economic development, as well as its important role in nurturing the longstanding bonds of friendship between India and Malawi.

The High Commission deeply values the Indian community as an important bridge between the two countries and HC reiterated the Govt of India’s commitment to continue engagement, addressing community’s concerns/grievances to fostering stronger people-to-people ties. 🇮🇳🤝🇲🇼

On September 3, High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Amararam Gujar met Mr. William W. Liabunya, Chief Executive Officer of Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited [EGENCO], in Blantyre for a productive discussion on strengthening India–Malawi cooperation in Power sector including renewable energy, with particular focus on solar power. The discussion also explored opportunities for capacity building, technical training and knowledge-sharing, including collaboration with India’s leading power sector institution such as NTPC. High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Malawi’s energy transition and sustainable development through technology know-how, skill development and partnerships.

On the invitation of Vice Chancellor Dr Benedicto Malunga ,High Commissioner H.E. Mr Amararam Gujar visited DMI St. John the Baptist University (DMISJBU), Mangochi on 2 September 2026 and had an interaction with the Faculty and Management of the University. Discussions focused on capacity building, exploring the establishment of an “India Corner” (Resource Centre), and enhancing academic collaboration between DMISJBU and Indian educational institutions/universities. The VC and his team gave High Commissioner a tour of the university campus.

DMISJBU in Malawi is part of the international DMI Group of Institutions. DMI Group was founded by Rev. Fr. Dr. J.E. Arulraj in India in 1984, with Headquarters in Chennai.
