Their determination reminds us that a holiday may pause the school calendar, but it cannot pause the desire to learn. Their resilience, curiosity, and hunger for knowledge are truly inspiring.

As part of the Lilongwe Aspire Alumni Exchange 2026 that took place on the 8th of August, our CEO, Staff Nyoni, facilitated a Design for Impact Workshop under the theme: “Co-creating Innovative Solutions for Inclusive Economic Resilience in Malawi.”

During the session, Staff took participants through the process of turning everyday challenges within their communities into opportunities for innovation and impact.
He explored how impactful ideas can emerge from our immediate environment by paying attention to the problems people experience, understanding the thinking behind those challenges, and what solutions can we come up with.

The session then moved from conversation to action. He facilitated brainstorming activities, grouping participants into thematic areas based on the problems they identified. Each group was challenged to think creatively and develop practical, innovative ideas that could respond to those challenges.

The workshop demonstrated an important principle we strongly believe in at Access Ability Africa: innovation does not always begin with having a big idea. Sometimes, it begins with noticing a problem and choosing to do something about it. By encouraging young people to look at their communities through a problem solving lens, the session created space for ideas that can contribute to a more inclusive, resilient and innovative Malawi.

Alumni Exchange 2026.

Participants will explore how to identify real community challenges, apply human centered design, and develop innovative solutions that create lasting impact.

At Access Ability Africa, we believe innovation should be inclusive, accessible, and driven by purpose and we are excited to be part of this journey.

As the BlindClassroom continues to scale its impact across Malawi, our team successfully deployed the system at Malingunde Resource Centre for the Blind in Lilongwe on the 3rd of July as part of Phase One of our national rollout. During the deployment, we:

• Installed 10 BlindClassroom systems for learners with visual impairments.
• Set up Starlink internet connectivity to provide reliable access to digital learning resources.
• Trained 10 teachers to effectively support learners in using the BlindClassroom system.

Every deployment brings us one step closer to ensuring that learners with visual impairments have equal access to quality, inclusive education through technology.
Together, we are building a future where no learner is left behind.

On 14 July 2026, representatives from the Chikwawa District Education Office visited Makande Resource Centre, where the BlindClassroom system has been deployed, to appreciate the provision of the system for the visually impaired students.

During the visit, the representatives interacted with learners as they demonstrated how they use the BlindClassroom system and the computers to support their learning. The visitors expressed their appreciation for the initiative and commended the positive impact the technology is having on inclusive education and access to quality education for learners with visual impairments.

The delegation included Mr. Zuze, the Special Needs Education (SNE) Coordinator; Madam Deys, the Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for Ngabu Zone; the Headteacher; and the Visual Impairment (VI) Specialist.

Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority - MACRA InABLE the Children Malawi

On the 10-11 July, our team successfully deployed the BlindClassroom system at Nazombe Resource Centre for the Blind in Phalombe District as part of our ongoing commitment to expanding access to inclusive education. During the deployment, we trained 10 Teachers, installed 10 Blind Classroom systems for the visually impaired students and we also set up a starlink internet connectivity.

This deployment marks another important milestone in our mission to make quality education more accessible for learners with visual impairments across Malawi.

From 8–9 July 2026, the team visited Makande Resource Centre for the Blind in Chikwawa District to continue the Phase One rollout of the BlindClassroom initiative.

During the visit, we installed 9 BlindClassroom systems, connected the school with Starlink internet, and trained 10 teachers to effectively help the students use the platform incase they face any difficulties.

This deployment is another important milestone in our mission to empower learners with visual impairments by equipping schools with the technology and support needed to deliver inclusive, accessible education.

On the 24th to 25th June, our team successfully deployed the BlindClassroom system at Nsiyaludzu Resource Centre for the Blind in Ntcheu as part of Phase One of our rollout. During the deployment, we:

• Installed 10 BlindClassroom systems for visually impaired learners.
• Set up Starlink internet connectivity to support seamless access to learning resources.
• Trained 10 teachers to help out the students to effectively use the system.

This marks another important step toward making quality, inclusive education more accessible for learners with visual impairments across Malawi.
