ACIDS, BASES & SALTS - The pH Rule of 7
Don’t memorize. Understand it using things in your kitchen 🇲🇼

THE RULE OF 7:
pH < 7 = ACIDIC → Sour taste. Eg: Lemon
pH = 7 = NEUTRAL → Pure water only
pH > 7 = BASIC/ALKALINE → Bitter taste, slippery feel. Eg: Soap

MALAWI pH SCALE - Things You Use Daily:

pH 1-2: Stomach acid - Digests your nsima
pH 3: Lemon/Malambe juice - Very sour! 🍋
pH 5: Black tea - Your morning brew
pH 6: Fresh milk
pH 7: Pure water - Neutral point
pH 8: Baking soda - Makes mandasi rise 🍞
pH 10: Mpasa/Wood ash - Removes bitterness from garden eggs
pH 14: Caustic soda - Dangerous! For cleaning only

📘 MSCE PHYSICS – GAS LAWS NOTES

Understanding Gas Laws is very important in MSCE Physics because they explain how gases behave when pressure, temperature, and volume change.

✅ Boyle’s Law
At constant temperature:
Pressure is inversely proportional to volume.

✅ Charles’ Law
At constant pressure:
Volume is directly proportional to temperature.

✅ Gay-Lussac’s Law
At constant volume:
Pressure is directly proportional to temperature.

✅ Avogadro’s Law
Equal volumes of gases contain equal numbers of molecules at the same temperature and pressure.

✅ Ideal Gas Equation
PV = nRT

📌 Remember:
All temperatures in gas law calculations must be converted to Kelvin (K).
