IDFR has concluded the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP): Diplomatic Training Course for International Participants, held from 11 to 20 May 2026. Over ten enriching days, we hosted 15 junior diplomats from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, Timor-Leste, Türkiye, and Ukraine, uniting diverse diplomatic officers to elevate their diplomatic competencies while bridging connections for future international cooperation.
Participants gained deep insights into Malaysia’s foreign policy, bilateral and multilateral diplomacy practices, ASEAN, and public diplomacy through sessions led by senior officials at Wisma Putra, alongside exploring the pivotal role of economic diplomacy and sustainable palm oil industry. The course also sharpened core diplomatic competencies in International Negotiation, Strategic Leadership and Quality Management, as well as Protocol and Diplomatic Etiquette.
Beyond the classroom, participants immersed themselves in Malaysian attractions by touring Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, visiting iconic landmarks such as Batu Caves, Central Market, the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, Putrajaya Mosque and Putrajaya Square. They also enjoyed ceramic painting and received briefings on Malaysia’s traditional handcrafts at the Craft Complex, witnessed cultural performances at the Malaysian Tourism Centre (MaTiC), and shared a unique food diplomacy experience with Dato’ Chef Ismail. These memorable activities perfectly complemented the learning experience, showcasing Malaysia’s policies, diplomatic conducts, socioeconomic initiatives, culture, and values.
