YB Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), visited Car Medic Sdn. Bhd. to gain deeper insights into the operations of an Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) and engage in discussions on key industry challenges and opportunities.
The visit was also attended by YBhg. Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YBrs. Ts. Azrul Reza Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of MARii, and YBrs. Ir. Dr. Mohd Azman Abas, Chief Research & Innovation Officer of MARii, reaffirming the shared commitment to advancing Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem through sustainable end-of-life vehicle management and industry collaboration.
The Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) is a key initiative that supports the proper dismantling and treatment of End-of-Life Parts (ELPs) and End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) in accordance with environmental standards. Introduced as a pilot project by the former Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) in collaboration with the Department of Environment (DOE) in March 2021, the programme promotes the responsible management of automotive waste through reuse, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling, contributing to a more sustainable and circular automotive industry.
As the strategic agency under MITI, MARii remains committed to supporting the implementation and advancement of the AATF initiative by strengthening industry capabilities, promoting sustainable end-of-life vehicle (ELV) management, and accelerating the adoption of circular economy practices across the automotive value chain. Through close collaboration with government agencies, industry players, and strategic partners, MARii continues to drive the transformation of Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem towards a greener, more resilient, and future-ready industry.
