The Malaysia of today is different from the Malaysia of a decade ago. It is a completely new era that simply compels a new formula of success. It is beyond rhetoric to suggest that a paradigm shift is needed in meeting the expectations of a more open, complex, demanding and nuanced society. ritical stock of its’ new environment and realities versus its current state. In 2010 National Budget Speech, on 23 October 2009, the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak articulated the Government’s intentions to forming a “school of government” with a global brand and reputation. He delivered a Vision of an institution with greater autonomy that will provide higher quality professional teaching and leadership development that would build high-performing and knowledgeable pools of public service leaders for the nation. This was further articulated in the 10th Malaysian Plan tabled in Parliament on 10 June 2010. The Razak School of Government was formed for the realities of tomorrow. It came to being to serve the fundamental needs of a developed Malaysia in 2020. The terms of School has been formed to serving a developed Malaysia society. Launched on 8 October 2010 by The Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, the School has been mandated to groom the future public sector leaders of Malaysia across all service sectors. The formation of RSOG is therefore very much at the heart of the transformation of the public service sector – engine of the Government Transformation Programme, GTP.

Kapal dagang dari seberang, penuh muatan kayu meranti, dari jauh puan datang, di ambang merdeka tambah bererti. RSOG is honoured to receive representatives from Jabatan Hal Ehwal Wanita Sabah yesterday, 28 August 2026, led by its Director, Puan Hajah Haslina Ismail.

This visit builds on the Women in Leadership programme that RSOG had with the department last year. The three-tier programme involving hundreds of participants across the state concluded in October 2025: https://h1.nu/1CHnf.

RSOG is honoured to receive participants of the prestigious Senior Executive Development Programme yesterday after a five-year lapse and in-person.

The first of such opportunity was virtual in 2021 – https://shorturl.at/rPqME It is an annual programme between the National Institute of Public Administration Malaysia (INTAN) and the Civil Service College Singapore.

Started in 2007, the programme is aimed at fostering a closer relationship between the Malaysian and Singapore public service. A total of 30 emerging leaders from both services attended the programme this year.

CEO RSOG, Dr Wafi Nazrin Dr Abdul Hamid interacted with the participants on the roles of RSOG in the larger ecosystem and the future. He related some of his previous professional experiences as practical examples. Certain awareness and clarity in direction is required in “Charting The Future Together” (the theme of the programme).

We thanked INTAN for bringing us on board. We like the participants’ enthusiasm and wishing them the best ahead.

KUNJUNGAN HORMAT RSOG KE IBU PEJABAT PENJARA MALAYSIA

Razak School of Government (RSOG) hari ini telah mengadakan sesi Kunjungan Hormat ke Ibu Pejabat Jabatan Penjara Malaysia di Kajang.

Pertemuan strategik ini memberi ruang kepada kedua-dua pihak memperkukuh hubungan institusi serta meneroka peluang kerjasama masa hadapan, khususnya dalam pembangunan kepimpinan, kesiapsiagaan masa depan (Future-Ready), serta pemerkasaan tadbir urus berasaskan nilai (Values-Driven Governance).

Kerjasama berterusan ini mencerminkan komitmen RSOG dalam menyokong aspirasi reformasi perkhidmatan awam dan memperkasa kecemerlangan kepimpinan dalam sektor pembetulan dan pemulihan negara.

"No road is long with good company.” RSOG is privileged to contribute to a three-day learning journey from 11 to 13 August 2026 for senior government officials from Negara Brunei Darussalam and guest countries. This journey is part of the Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officials curated and led by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
The journey started with an introduction and context-setting by RSOG to build a coherent understanding of the road ahead.

The first stop was the Malaysian Integrity Institute—the nation’s commitment to improving governance across the board through education and advocacy. Next was the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization; the collection of books and artifacts reminds us of the importance of documenting references for future generations. The final stop of Day 1 was the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Academy. Enforcement agencies must continue learning or risk being left behind.

Day 2 was in Putrajaya and its vicinity. It commenced at the National Resilience College, the most senior learning centre within Pusat Pengajian Pertahanan Nasional (PUSPAHANAS). An executive talk on leapfrogging by a defence industry practitioner and a networking session with management and resident students were the highlights. The visit to PETRONAS Leadership Centre was a revelation—learning has become multifaceted, with nation-building high on the agenda.

The final day was at the National Institute of Public Administration. Interactions focused on the broader MADANI framework, the public service role via Agenda Reformasi Perkhidmatan Awam, and the Government Service Efficiency Commitment Act 2025: move forward quickly with optimal resources while showing respect, gaining trust, exhibiting compassion, and upholding integrity. A fireside chat with CEO RSOG concluded the journey.

Heartfelt thanks to LKYSPP NUS and the Government of Negara Brunei Darussalam, as well as all host institutions for the top-class hospitality. To all participants, it has been a true pleasure and a memorable journey.

PETRONAS Leadership Centre developed and led four Stakeholder Engagement Programmes on 27 and 28 July and 4 and 11 August 2026 at its campus in Bangi.

These upskilling programmes were attended by the group’s tax and treasury professionals. RSOG was privileged to contribute four interactive sessions on Interacting With The Public Sector at each of the programmes.

A big thank you to our two esteemed guest facilitators, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkurnain Haji Awang and Dato’ Seri Dr. Chen Chaw Min, for their respective invaluable contributions to the sessions. We liked the energy and enthusiasm of the participants – simply awesome!
