🌟 **ASEAN Makers Fest 2026 @ Universiti Malaya** 🌟

On 28–29 April 2026, the SEAMEO RECSAM Knowledge Management Unit (KMU) Makerspace proudly participated in the ASEAN Makers Fest 2026 at Universiti Malaya as a partner, exhibitor, and competitor.

We are delighted to share that our dedicated specialists and staff took part in the competition and achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the🥇 Gold Medal for the Sustainability Award!

At our booth, we showcased engaging hands-on STEM activities including 3D printing, 3D pen creations, and immersive VR experiences, while also highlighting our commitment to sustainable innovation. This recognition reflects our continuous efforts in promoting creativity, environmental responsibility, and future-ready skills through STEM education.

The event brought together inspiring innovators, educators, and makers from across the ASEAN region, creating a dynamic space for collaboration and idea-sharing.

✨ STEM Day Outreach at SMK (L) Methodist Penang ✨

On 8th April 2026, the SEAMEO RECSAM Knowledge Management Unit Makerspace had the wonderful opportunity to participate in STEM Day at SMK (L) Methodist Penang.

Our team brought hands-on experiences to students through exciting activities including 3D printing, 3D pen creations, and Virtual Reality (VR) exploration. It was inspiring to see students actively engaging, experimenting, and unleashing their creativity through these technologies.

The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the students truly reflect the growing passion for STEM learning. We are proud to support and nurture future innovators by making learning interactive, fun, and meaningful.

🌟 3D Printing Workshop Success! 🌟

On 13th March 2026, our Knowledge Management Unit had the pleasure of conducting an engaging 3D Printing Workshop for students and educators from Woranari Chaloem Songkhla School, Thailand 🇹🇭 during their study visit.

The session focused on introducing the fundamentals of 3D design and printing, where participants explored hands-on learning using innovative tools and technologies. From creating simple models to understanding the real-world applications of 3D printing, it was an inspiring and interactive experience for everyone involved.

The SEAMEO Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics successfully hosted the 14th SEAMEO RECSAM Science and Technology Youth Symposium 2026 (SSYS 2026) with the inspiring theme “Greenovate: Youth Turning Vision into Action for a Sustainable Future.”

This meaningful symposium brought together passionate young minds to explore innovative ideas and solutions that support environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and green innovation. 🌍💡

The Knowledge Management Unit (Makerspace) proudly contributed to this event by sharing knowledge and hands-on experiences with participants, together with specialists. Through creative problem-solving & space, students were encouraged to transform their ideas into impactful solutions for real-world sustainability challenges.

🚀🤖 Digital STEM in action!
The SEAMEO RECSAM Knowledge Management Unit Makerspace had an amazing time participating in the MyFlowLab Digital STEM Education Train-the-Trainer Guerrilla Boot Camp, held from 20 – 21 December 2025 at the beautiful Bayou Lagoon Park Resort, Melaka

Over two intensive and fun-filled days, our team explored hands-on digital STEM activities, innovative teaching strategies, and creative problem-solving approaches designed to empower educators in the digital age. The sessions were packed with collaboration, experimentation, and meaningful learning experiences that we’re excited to bring back and share!

A big thank you to the organizers and fellow participants for the inspiration, energy, and great teamwork. Looking forward to applying these new ideas in future programs and continuing our journey in advancing STEM education! 📚💡✨

Throughout the two days, I had the chance to inspire young minds, connect with passionate educators, and spark creativity through hands-on STEAM activities. It was truly rewarding to see students explore, innovate, and discover their potential.

We were honoured to welcome the Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang for an official visit to RECSAM Makerspace. The visit highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting innovation, STEM education, and community-based maker activities.

During the visit, our team showcased various 3D printing projects, robotics demonstrations, and STEM education initiatives conducted with local educators and students.

✨ Basic Tinkercad & 3D Printing Course with Future Educators from IPGKPP ✨
📅 7 & 23 October 2025
📍 RECSAM Makerspace, Penang

A one-day Basic Tinkercad and 3D Printing Course was successfully held at RECSAM Makerspace on 7th and 23rd October 2025. The session brought together enthusiastic trainee teachers from IPGKPP (Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pulau Pinang) to explore the world of digital design and 3D printing technology.

Participants learned how to design 3D models using Tinkercad software and later printed their creations using 3D printers. The course aimed to spark creativity, innovation, and practical STEM skills — empowering future teachers to integrate hands-on digital fabrication into their teaching approaches.

It was a fun and inspiring day filled with learning, creativity, and teamwork! 🌟

Everyone had fun exploring the fundamentals of design using Tinkercad, and discovering how creative 3D ideas can come to life.

Lots of smiles, laughter, and new skills gained — a joyful step into the world of 3D design!
