Happy New Year 2026 to all my esteemed JKP Team mate, Ketua-Ketua and Residents.
Thank you very much, everyone—especially my incredible JKP Team—for your unwavering support and assistance throughout my five years of service. It has been a great honour to know you all and to learn so much from each and every one of you.
Now, it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life. While it is truly sad to leave, my mission here has come to an end.
I began my tenure during the MCO period, arriving without knowing a single soul. Today, I am humbled to have gathered over 4,200 supporters and more than 80 dedicated community Ketua-Ketua. It has been a remarkable journey.
Throughout this time, thank you for granting me the opportunity to serve both our community and our country.
Together, we built something special—from forming a team of JKP volunteers to organising programs for every festival. I will always remember our final Tanglung festival, which brought together over 450 participants in Wangsa Permai, a once-secluded area. From our monthly Daki Aktif hikes and basketball competitions to our yearly gotong-royong and countless other initiatives—none of this would have been possible without my amazing JKP Team Zone 23.
Our achievements speak to what teamwork can accomplish:
• Reduced flash floods from 4 regular spots to 0 in this monsoon season.
• Cut illegal dumping sites from 15 down to 3.
• Cleared and upgraded nearly all playgrounds (with one in Suria KIP remaining).
• Resurfaced roads in most neighbourhoods (though I regret that Wangsa Permai 2 & 3 roads could not be completed in 2025).
• Opened new bus stops and rebuilt critical drainage systems across Zone 23.
• Managed tree maintenance so effectively that tree falls dropped from over 20 in my first year to just 1 in 2026.
Naturally, I am disappointed that my contract will not be renewed for the coming term, especially given the time and effort invested in projects now underway or approved for 2026:
1. New road and infrastructure from Jalan 16 to KIP (RM10M+ project, initiated after 5 years of effort).
2. New hall with pickleball courts (RM1M estimated, after 2+ years of planning).
3. Revamp of Wangsa Permai 2 playground (RM500K estimated).
4. Bandar Selamat – Fasa 3 safe walkway with solar lights and CCTV from Damai Puri to Jalan Perdana.
5. Conversion of Wangsa Permai 3 rubbish house into a small police post.
Several projects also remain in the pipeline:
1. Making Aman Puri a food and festive hub to revitalise the area.
2. Alternative road for the Desa Aman industrial zone to KIP (currently only one unsuitable access road).
3. Many other ongoing initiatives.
Finally, thank you and a very Happy New Year to all my beloved residents. I wish you all the best in 2026 and beyond.
I will now begin a new journey and turn a fresh page in the coming year. I hope to see you around.
With deepest gratitude,
Calvin cheong
