HAPUA Strategic Dialogue | 30–31 July 2026

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), HAPUA Secretariat and Électricité du Laos (EDL) as the HAPUA Chair successfully hosted the HAPUA Strategic Dialogue, bringing together representatives from all 11 ASEAN Member States to discuss HAPUA’s future strategic direction in supporting ASEAN’s evolving energy landscape.

The dialogue provided a valuable platform for HAPUA Working Groups, country representatives and regional partners to exchange perspectives, build consensus and formulate recommendations that will guide HAPUA’s future direction and strengthen regional energy cooperation.

Together, we continue to strengthen partnerships and advance a more connected, resilient and sustainable ASEAN power sector.

Engagement Session between the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) | Chancellery Building, Universiti Tenaga Nasional Putrajaya Campus | 15 May 2026

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia, led by His Excellency Bulat Sugurbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, accompanied by Ms. Akmaral Belgibekova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The engagement session, held at the Chancellery Building, UNITEN Putrajaya Campus, was hosted by Professor Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari, Vice-Chancellor of UNITEN, together with the university’s senior management team and representatives from International Regulations & Relations (IRR) Department, RSMD.

The session focused on exploring strategic collaboration opportunities in education, research, human capital development, student mobility programmes, renewable energy, nuclear studies and space-related initiatives. Discussions also highlighted Kazakhstan’s expertise in the nuclear sector and UNITEN’s aspirations to develop future nuclear-related academic programmes aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) 2050.

Both parties exchanged views on strengthening academic and cultural relations, expanding collaboration between Malaysian and Kazakh institutions and enhancing opportunities for students and researchers from both countries.

The engagement concluded with a guided campus tour using UNITEN’s electric vehicle (EV) bus, including visits to the National Energy Center (NEC) and surrounding facilities.
