A working visit is not only about what is on the schedule. Some of the most useful conversations happen in between. 🇲🇾🇧🇩

Throughout the visit to Dhaka, Dato’ Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, and the MHTC team took time to reconnect with existing partners and meet new stakeholders, exchanging perspectives on Bangladesh’s healthcare landscape and the needs of patients seeking care overseas.

These conversations offered a closer look at the market, from changing healthcare needs to the networks and relationships that can make Malaysia Healthcare more accessible to Bangladeshi patients.

For MHTC, being present in the market means listening, learning and staying connected. Each conversation adds another perspective to how Malaysia and Bangladesh can build a stronger healthcare travel corridor.

A warm evening at Malaysia House, Dhaka. 🇲🇾🇧🇩

During MHTC’s visit to Dhaka, H.E. Mohd Shuhada Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, hosted the MHTC delegation for a special networking dinner at Malaysia House.

Away from the formal meetings, the evening offered a chance to get to know each other beyond work, with conversations around people, culture and the warmth of Bangladeshi hospitality.

And of course, there was no better way to introduce Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT2026) and its “Healing Meets Hospitality” theme than through a special appearance by Dr Wira and Sr Manja in plushie form. 🧸🇲🇾

A warm evening, good conversations and a reminder that stronger connections often start simply by spending time together.

Healthcare travel is also about knowing where patients are and finding the right ways to reach them. 🇲🇾🇧🇩

During MHTC’s visit to Dhaka, a meeting with Prime Bank, one of Bangladesh’s leading private commercial banks, offered an opportunity to exchange perspectives on healthcare needs in Bangladesh and how patients can better navigate their options for treatment overseas.

For patients considering care abroad, access to clear and relevant healthcare information can make the journey easier to navigate. Trusted networks and familiar points of contact can play an important role in bringing that information closer to them.

With Bangladesh continuing to be an important market for Malaysia Healthcare, these connections create more opportunities to make the healthcare journey easier to understand and access.

China’s healthcare travel landscape extends well beyond the familiar South China markets. Beijing offers a different set of opportunities, audiences and connections to explore.

Following MHTC’s participation at MASSCON 2026, where Malaysia’s healthcare travel experience took the stage, the Beijing visit brought the conversation closer to the ground through engagements with Malaysia’s representatives in China.

At the Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing 马来西亚驻华大使馆, MHTC met H.E. Dato’ Norman Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, together with Mr. Amirulhusni Sahar, Counsellor, and Ms. Georgina M. Abas, First Secretary, Tourism Malaysia.

The discussion looked at opportunities across Beijing, North China and emerging Chinese cities, with H.E. Dato’ Norman also highlighted the strong Malaysia–China relationship as a conducive foundation for deeper engagement. Appreciation to H.E. and the team for the support and perspectives shared.

MHTC also met MATRADE Beijing 马来西亚对外贸易发展局北京办事处, led by Mr. Niqman Rafaee, Minister Counsellor, together with Mrs. Nur Aridza Harsha, First Secretary, and Mrs. Ru Peng (Angela), Marketing Officer. The discussion explored how MATRADE’s business and trade networks could help identify credible partners and open new avenues for healthcare collaboration.

China is a diverse market, and healthcare needs can vary from one city to another. Looking beyond the familiar markets means getting closer to the people, networks and opportunities shaping demand.

Supporting mothers, protecting breastfeeding, and giving every child the best start. 🌸

MHTC was pleased to attend the National World Breastfeeding Week 2026 celebration at Prince Court Medical Centre, officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia.

The celebration was organised with the involvement of the National Lactation Centre, IHH Healthcare Malaysia and Prince Court Medical Centre, bringing together public and private healthcare stakeholders around a shared commitment to supporting breastfeeding.

This year’s theme, “Asas Kehidupan Lestari: Perkukuhkan Amalan Yang Berkesan” (Sustainable Foundations: Strengthening Effective Practices), highlights the importance of creating supportive environments that enable mothers to continue breastfeeding, wherever they choose to give birth.

The celebration also marked the launch of the new Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) logo and recognised 23 private hospitals for their efforts in supporting breastfeeding practices, including Malaysia Healthcare member hospitals.

Malaysia Healthcare took to the airwaves on day one at MH Expo Yogyakarta 2026. 🇲🇾🇮🇩

MHTC kicked off the first day with appearances on iSwara Jogja alongside GenPrime Everlink Fertility Centre and Hospital Picaso, followed by a conversation on Voks Radio Jogja with Island Hospital Penang, winner of the Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital (FMTH) award.

The conversations brought Malaysia’s healthcare capabilities closer to Indonesian audiences, while highlighting promotions, healthcare options and opportunities available throughout MH Expo Yogyakarta 2026.

With 19 MHTC member hospitals on ground, there is plenty more to discover, from specialist care and treatment options to exclusive offerings available during the expo.

Building connections ahead of MHX Yogyakarta 2026. 🇲🇾🇮🇩

In preparation for MHX Yogyakarta 2026, MHTC engaged with healthcare and tourism stakeholders across Yogyakarta to gain deeper insights into the local landscape and share updates on Malaysia’s healthcare travel ecosystem.

The visit included a meeting with the Government of Sleman Regency, represented by Bpk. Danang Maharsa, S.E., Wakil Bupati Kabupaten Sleman, together with officials from the health and tourism offices. This was followed by a discussion with Bpk. Eko Rahmadi, S.KM., M.P.H., Head of Health Resources Division (SDK), Yogyakarta City Health Office.

These engagements provided a valuable platform to exchange perspectives on healthcare delivery, tourism development, and patient needs in Yogyakarta, while highlighting MHTC’s role in facilitating access to Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Sleman Regency and Yogyakarta City Health Office for the warm hospitality and meaningful discussions.

Healthcare is becoming part of the wider Malaysia–Bangladesh halal conversation. 🇲🇾🇧🇩

MHTC was pleased to be part of the Think Halal, Grow Halal: Malaysia–Bangladesh Forum in Dhaka, where Dato’ Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, joined H.E. Zahir Uddin Swapon, Honourable Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and H.E. Mohd Shuhada Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, for a discussion on Malaysia’s healthcare and medical tourism industry within the halal ecosystem.

The conversation looked at how Malaysia’s established healthcare ecosystem and experience in medical tourism can contribute to the growing halal industry, while creating more choices for Muslim patients seeking care overseas.

The forum, organised by the High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka in collaboration with Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), brought together leaders and stakeholders from across the halal ecosystem.

For MHTC, it was an opportunity to put healthcare and medical tourism into a broader conversation around halal, and to explore where Malaysia and Bangladesh can build stronger connections.

During Malaysia Healthcare Week in Shenzhen, MHTC hosted a VIP networking lunch and evening dinner, bringing together strategic partners and distinguished guests to deepen relationships and explore opportunities for collaboration.

We were honoured to welcome the Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, alongside representatives from Tourism Malaysia Guangzhou, MATRADE Guangzhou, MAYCHAM China Guangdong, Guangdong General Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia Airlines, and invited guest SF DIGITS, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening Malaysia–China healthcare connections.

The gatherings provided an opportunity to exchange market insights, strengthen partnerships, and explore new opportunities in healthcare travel across the Greater Bay Area.

Every meaningful partnership begins with a conversation. Together, we look forward to creating more opportunities that connect patients, partners, and Malaysia Healthcare.
