The Third China (Ningxia) – ASEAN Economic and Trade Matchmaking Meeting (16 July 2026)

Themed "Exploring New Opportunities, Promoting Common Development," the Third China (Ningxia) – ASEAN Economic and Trade Matchmaking Meeting successfully convened at Conference Hall 1, KLCC, Malaysia. In conjunction with the forum, the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) officially renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Committee, reaffirming their long-standing partnership.

As co-organiser of the event, MCBC Executive Director & Chief Executive Dato' Tan Tian Meng delivered an address, highlighting Ningxia’s competitive strengths in goji berries, wine, Tan sheep, and premium agri-food products. He positioned Malaysia as ASEAN's premier gateway and a halal-certified springboard for Ningxia enterprises. The high-impact programme featured strategic industry promotions, a new product launch segment, a signing ceremony, and a B2B matchmaking session to drive bilateral commercial success.

以“共话新机遇，共促新发展”为主题的第三届中国（宁夏）—东盟经贸对接交流会今日于吉隆坡会展中心（KLCC）圆满举行。配合此次盛会，马中商务理事会与宁夏贸促会续签了谅解备忘录（MoU），进一步巩固双方长久以来的战略合作伙伴关系。

Courtesy Visit by Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad (14 July 2026)

The Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) received a courtesy visit from Mr. Wu Jun, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad, at the MCBC office in Menara MATRADE. Hosted by MCBC Executive Director & Chief Executive Dato' Tan Tian Meng alongside Directors Dato' Lim Bee Vian and Mr. Teoh Kok Lin, the discussion centered on strategic collaboration to identify suitable Chinese companies for IPO listings in Malaysia, with a particular emphasis on enterprises already invested or operating locally. Both organizations agreed to engage the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia to facilitate these listings and to host ongoing dialogues on bilateral capital flows and financing.

Symposium on Promoting Exchanges on Governance and Advancing Common Development Between Malaysia and China

Hosted by the Malaysia Friends of Silk Road Club at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, the symposium convened Members of Parliament, political representatives, think tanks, and academia to exchange views on governance and bilateral cooperation.

The event was graced by H.E. Ambassador Ouyang Yujing and YB Senator Dato' Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basah. Representing MCBC, Director Dato' Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan highlighted people-to-people connectivity as the foundation of the 50-year friendship, while Executive Director & Chief Executive Dato' Tan Tian Meng underscored that sound governance drives commerce. He noted the strategic alignment between the 13th Malaysia Plan and China's 15th Five-Year Plan, reaffirming MCBC's commitment to bridging industry and government.

The Malaysia–China Business Council (MCBC) hosted H.E. Zhang Jun, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), on a courtesy visit to the Council’s office at Menara MATRADE, followed by a networking dinner with prominent Malaysian corporate leaders.

Received by MCBC Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan and Executive Director & Chief Executive Dato’ Tan Tian Meng, discussions centered on enhancing regional supply chain resilience, advancing cross-border payments, and driving digital and green economic integration. MCBC Chairman Received by CPC Xinjiang Committee Secretary Chen Xiaojiang (26 June 2026)

On the sidelines of the 9th China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, MCBC Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan and his delegation were received by H.E. Chen Xiaojiang, Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Committee. Mr. He Zhongyou, Deputy Secretary of the Autonomous Region Committee and Political Commissar of the XPCC, also joined the meeting.

Secretary Chen welcomed the delegation, noting that local-level cooperation between Xinjiang and Malaysia has grown increasingly close. He recognized MCBC's vital role in advancing trade and investment, and expressed hope to further deepen economic and people-to-people exchanges.

Chairman Low thanked Xinjiang for its warm hospitality. He affirmed MCBC's commitment to strengthen engagement with relevant departments in Xinjiang, welcoming its enterprises to invest in Malaysia and expanding cooperation across trade, tourism, and culture.

MCBC Delegation Attends the 9th China-Eurasia Expo in Xinjiang (25–26 June 2026)

Led by MCBC Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, alongside Executive Director & Chief Executive Dato’ Tan Tian Meng, the Malaysia–China Business Council (MCBC) delegation participated in key engagements at the 9th China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, Xinjiang, from 25 to 26 June 2026.

Key highlights include:

Opening Ceremony & Pavilion Tour (25 June): The delegation attended the opening ceremony under the theme “New Opportunities of the Silk Road, New Vitality for Eurasian Cooperation,” and visited the Malaysia (MATRADE) Pavilion to showcase Malaysian products.

Keynote Address at “Invest in XPCC” Forum (25 June): Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan delivered a keynote address highlighting complementary opportunities in modern agriculture, renewable energy, and logistics, inviting the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) to utilize Malaysia as their regional gateway into ASEAN.

【MCBC Convenes 3rd Board Meeting, Holds Exchange with China Ambassador】

MCBC successfully convened its third board meeting yesterday. Last evening, Chairman Senator Tan Sri Dato' Low Kian Chuan led the Board of Directors in a dinner reception to hold a bilateral exchange with His Excellency Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador of China to Malaysia, and the Embassy delegation.

Tan Sri Low introduced the attending board members and highlighted that MCBC has officially established five committees. These committees will drive work in key areas including regional multilateral collaboration, ECRL-related industrial development, government-industry policy coordination, and SME, technological, and digital supply chains. The meeting has laid a solid foundation for future operations, while the exchange with the Ambassador further enhanced mutual cooperation.

Also present from the Embassy were Minister Counsellor Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counsellor Wang Jiarong, Counsellor Li Zhenxing, Director Yang Guowei, and First Secretary Zang Wenbo.

丹斯里卢成全向欧阳玉靖大使介绍了出席的董事，并指出，配合新届董事会成立，理事会已设立5个专项委员会，重点围绕区域多边协作、东铁（ECRL）相关产业发展、政企对接协调，以及中小企业和科技数字供应链等关键领域展开工作。昨日会议的顺利召开为未来推进奠定了堅实基础，与大使一行的交流也进一步增进了双方协作。
