While most of us sleep in our comfortable beds at home, some people are homeless without shelter, sleeping on the street of Kuala Lumpur. A piece of thick cardboard is probably the most comfortable mattress they have. Some of us even wear our nice pyjamas, cuddling our favourite soft toys or pillow without public intrusion. However, our street friends may have the same shirt which they wear throug
hout the day till they sleep on it. We have the luxury to select and buy clothes we like, or according to the latest trend. However, many of our street friends have limited choices. BlesStreet is an initiative under the Street Ministry that aims to raise awareness about homelessness in Malaysia. Our goal is not only to create awareness but also to practically reach out and befriend our street friends, strengthening their personal safety net. Many of our activities, program and events are providing an opportunity for people from all walks of life to interact with one another. Our advocacy efforts aim to create a safe space and a caring society for those who struggle with poverty and homelessness. We hope to support them on their journey to overcome their challenges. Apart from raising awareness, we seek to reach out with practical actions, giving away your post-loved clothing and goods that can be reused by the community on the streets is one of the actions you can start to get involved. Our BlesStreet Page also hopes to create awareness about homelessness as one of the important social issues faced by many people who struggle through life challenges. Instead of sharing sensationalized stories of street life. We hope to share stories to reflect the reality of the streets life and help us better inform how together we may face this homelessness issue effectively.
