Terengganu Neurosurgery Update 2025: A Resounding Success

We are deeply honored by the collaboration and support of everyone who attended the Terengganu Neurosurgery Update 2025 in conjunction with the 2nd National Neurosurgery HOD Meeting 2025, held at Hotel Paya Bunga, Kuala Terengganu.
The conference was officiated by Dr. Zwatil Amalin, together with the Head of Neurosurgical Service Malaysia, Mr. Azmi Alias, accompanied by all Neurosurgery Heads of Department (HODs) from Johor to Sabah. A total of 200 participants, including 20 workshop participants, successfully attended, making this event a success. TNU2025 kicked off with a High-Speed Drill Workshop at Hospital Sultan Zainal Abidin (HoSZA), in collaboration with Humedical and Medtronic. We also extend our gratitude to the 17 well-known and highly experienced conference speakers in their respective fields, who delivered excellent lectures and case sharings for all of us. Ten partners participated by setting up exhibition booths, including Humedical, Sutera Karlmedik, Schmidt, 3D Gen, AveroMedNav, Pharm-D, Zeiss, Qaremedik, Primamedik, and B Braun, all of whom helped us make this event a success. We are also very grateful for the excellent cooperation from Hotel Paya Bunga KT throughout our event.

History was made at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah on June 29, 2025! Neurosurgery HSNZ, in collaboration with the Neurology, Neuroanaesthetist, Neuropsychiatry, Neuroradiology and Operation Theater teams, successfully performed Terengganu's first awake craniotomy and tumor excision.

Young patient presented with seizure and speech arrest, was found to have tumour located around her frontal lobe adjacent to her eloquent mainly speech areas.

Decision made to proceed with Awake Craniotomy Tumour Excision in order to perform maximal safe resection surgery with continous speech assessment(talking to patient) while patient is awake!

Alhamdulillah patient has no deficit post operation.
