Sempena cuti sekolah yang bakal tiba, Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC ) ingin menjemput semua yang berkelapangan untuk sama-sama memeriahkan SASMEC Mega Health Fiesta 2026 pada 1 dan 2 September 2026 bertempat di East Coast Mall, Kuantan.

Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC ) recorded an impressive achievement to earn Silver in the Konvensyen Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif Universiti Awam (KIK UA) ke-18, held from 4th to 6th August 2026 at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM).

The convention brought together 53 teams from public universities nationwide, with IIUM fielding three representative groups, namely Synergi (SASMEC ), Sigma Kreatif (Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM) and Convo Reform Group (Convocation Committee).

Presenting on MedTracker, Sr. Mery Hu Wei Ying, Sr. Nur Aima Samsuddin, Sr. Nor Azimah Zakaria, Sr. Rehan Zainol Abidin, Sr. Nur Shahila Alias, Br. Bryan Tan Boon Yuan, Br. Nik Raffiuddin Nik Mohd Adib, Br. Muhammad Hafizuddin Hassan Basri and Br. Muhammad Amir Aiman Kamarol Zaini managed to bring highlights to the newly developed system.

This success is engraved as the very first history for SASMEC in KIK, proving as a promising newcomer to represent IIUM in expressing polished ideas through creative solutions in healthcare industry.

As a university teaching hospital, it is in the hospital's pledge to aim for excellence through compassionate care in service delivery, in line with the core values of SASMEC .

Congratulations to the Infection Prevention & Control Unit (IPCU) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Team of Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC ) for their commendable participation and achievements at the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC) 2026 International Congress, held from 30 July to 2 August 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

SASMEC proudly showcased its work in infection prevention, outbreak management, hand hygiene, antimicrobial stewardship, laboratory quality improvement and patient safety through an impressive 7 poster presentations and 3 oral presentations.

The poster presentations were presented by:

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wan Nurliyana Wan Ramli, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ummu Afeera Zainulabid, and Matron Suhaiza Mohd Fadzil represented SASMEC through oral presentations at the international congress.

A special congratulations goes to Asst. Prof. Dr. Ummu Afeera Zainulabid, who was selected as a recipient of the prestigious APSIC 2026 Travel Award, further highlighting the quality and relevance of research and initiatives undertaken by the SASMEC team.

This achievement reflects the continuous commitment of the hospital towards strengthening infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety and evidence-based healthcare practices, while contributing knowledge and experience at the international level.

SASMEC brought home a record of 6 individual and team awards overall, a high note for the hospital throughout all Takrim editions.

Worth mentioning that under the initiative of KPT Madani Sejahtera 2026, volunteers from SASMEC pitched up an exhibition booth during the event, providing HIV screening and counselling service for Shariah-related matters, which managed to register a total of more than 250 beneficiaries within just two days.

Heartiest appreciation to the management and award winners for their dedication in chanting victories for our institution. It is always the proudest moment to stand tall with all high achievers of IIUM. Truly, there will be no accomplishment without a dream.

Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC ) has received a delegation of 19 postgraduate students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Indonesia on 5 August 2026, in collaboration with the Kulliyyah of Nursing.

The visit comprised of an educational visit and clinical observation involving selected clinical areas and hospital wards.

Hospital Director of SASMEC , Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Saufi Awang also had the opportunity to engage with the international students at Neurology Clinic, entertaining questions on the management of the hospital.

As part of the visit, the students gained insights into SASMEC ’s Shariah-compliant hospital practices from the Department of Shariah Compliance.

The session aimed to provide the students with a deeper understanding on how Islamic principles and values are integrated into healthcare services at SASMEC .

We truly hope this experience serves as a stepping stone towards meaningful knowledge exchange and research collaboration, strengthening SASMEC 's role as a prominent university teaching hospital in Malaysia.
