A significant milestone for Padawanโ€™s healthy ageing journey ๐ŸŽ‰

On 13 August 2026, WHO Representative for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, Dr Rabindra Abeyasinghe presented the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities membership certificate to Padawan Municipal Council Chairman Cr Tan Kai. Dr Rabindra was joined by WHO officers Dr Isabel Espinosa and Dr Ruben Ramakrishnan.

Padawan joined the Global Network in 2026, becoming the ninth ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ city to do so.

Its membership demonstrates the Councilโ€™s commitment to making Padawan a place where older persons can remain healthy, active, independent and connected to their communities.

The certificate presentation was followed by a meeting between WHO and the Council on implementing and further advancing the Age-friendly Cities and Communities initiative in Padawan. The discussion covered the next steps, including understanding local needs, engaging older persons, strengthening collaboration across sectors and developing a practical action plan for Padawan.

As populations age, cities and communities must plan ahead. Supporting healthy ageing means creating accessible environments, inclusive services and opportunities for participation that enable people to maintain their health and well-being throughout life. These improvements ultimately benefit residents of every age.

WHO looks forward to continuing its technical collaboration with Padawan Municipal Council as it moves forward with its age-friendly journey.

The Council has taken corrective action following damage to the road bump markings at Jalan Kung Phin caused by passing vehicles.

The MPP team carried out immediate repair works to restore the road bump markings and improve road safety for residents and road users.

MPP thanks all road users for their patience and understanding as the Council continues to maintain and improve road infrastructure within Padawan.

Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) is currently carrying out maintenance works at Batu Kawah Riverbank Park to ensure the facilities remain safe and in good condition for public use.

The affected areas are:

โ€ข Phase 2 โ€“ Galaxy Bridge
โ€ข Phase 3 โ€“ Skateboard Court

These areas will be temporarily closed to the public while the maintenance works are being carried out. The works are expected to be completed within approximately three weeks.

Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the closed areas, observe the safety barriers and signage and take extra care when visiting the park. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while the works are in progress.

12 OGOS 2026 (Khamis) - Majlis Perbandaran Padawan telah menerima Anugerah Khas Jawatankuasa Khas Kabinet (CABCOM) Mengenai Penyata Kewangan Tahunan Dan Anggaran Belanjawan Tahunan Badan Berkanun Negeri dan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan 2026. Anugerah ini telah disampaikan oleh Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier Sarawak kepada Ir. Ts. Goh Thiam Ho, Setiausaha Perbandaran di Borneo Convention Centre Kuching bersamaan dengan sambutan Hari Integriti Sarawak 2026.

The Air Pollution Index (API) in Padawan is currently at a high level. Members of the public are advised to take precautionary measures to protect their health and safety during this haze season.

1. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
2. Limit outdoor activities and carry out activities indoors when haze conditions worsen.
3. Do not engage in open burning.
4. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.

The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is continuously carrying out routine litter-picking and cleaning works along the roads to keep our surroundings clean, tidy and safe.
