This morning’s Sarawak Early Childhood Development Council meeting focused on the sector’s preparedness for the implementation of the policy allowing six-year-olds to enter Year One. Deliberations centred on kindergarten readiness, enrolment implications and strategies to safeguard the sustainability and quality of early childhood services across the state.
The Council reaffirmed Sarawak’s way forward through integrated licensing of TASKA and TADIKA within shared premises supported by facilitative regulatory charges and community-integrated planning in new development areas incorporating early childhood centres, early intervention and therapy spaces, structured after-school support for children with special needs as well as elderly or active ageing centres.
As we move ahead, our commitment remains clear — to build an inclusive, integrated and future-ready ECCE ecosystem in Sarawak. We aspire to ensure seamless developmental pathways from early intervention to preschool and structured after-school support so that every child can thrive within their own community.
