最近与一位国中数学老师闲聊，她分享：
“很多学生不是不会算，而是看不懂国语应用题在问什么。”
即使是马来学生，也同样面对理解能力不足的问题。题目读不懂、抓不到重点，自然不知道该使用哪一个公式，更无法正确作答。
阅读理解能力，不只影响语文科，也会直接影响数学、科学及其他科目的学习。
孩子认得字，不代表真正读得懂。只有具备足够的词汇量，并能理解句子的意思，才能把知识真正学进去。
因此，阅读基础一定要从小建立。
别等到孩子升上中学，才发现问题并不只是“不会做题”，而是“看不懂题目”。

I recently had a conversation with a secondary school Mathematics teacher, who shared:
“Many students are not unable to do the calculations—they simply do not understand what the Malay word problems are asking.”
Even Malay students face difficulties with comprehension. When students cannot understand the question or identify the key information, they naturally do not know which formula to use or how to answer correctly.
Reading comprehension does not only affect language subjects. It also directly impacts a child’s learning in Mathematics, Science, and other subjects.
Recognising words does not necessarily mean that a child truly understands what they are reading. Only with sufficient vocabulary and the ability to understand sentences can children absorb knowledge effectively.
That is why a strong reading foundation should be developed from an early age.
Don’t wait until your child enters secondary school to realise that the problem is not simply that they cannot solve the question—it is that they cannot understand it.
