MAJLIS PERASMIAN BANGUNAN GEREJA BARU ST. GILES’S, BATU NIAH

📍 Gereja Baru St. Giles’s, Batu Niah

Perasmian bangunan baharu Gereja St. Giles, Batu Niah telah disempurnakan oleh YBhg. The Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute, Bishop of Kuching, dan telah dihadiri oleh lebih 400 orang jemaat serta tetamu jemputan.

Encik Aloysius bin Gulih telah menghadiri upacara tersebut bagi mewakili Pengarah Unit Hal Ehwal Agama-Agama Lain (UNIFOR), YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau.

Sehingga kini, Gereja St. Giles, Batu Niah telah menerima jumlah peruntukan sebanyak RM1,550,000 daripada Kerajaan Sarawak melalui UNIFOR, dengan RM1,350,000 adalah bagi menyokong pembangunan bangunan baharu gereja tersebut.

UNIFOR kekal komited dalam menyokong pembangunan dan keperluan rumah-rumah ibadat agama-agama lain di seluruh Sarawak, selaras dengan aspirasi Kerajaan Sarawak dalam memelihara keharmonian beragama, kepelbagaian budaya dan perpaduan sosial.

🇲🇾 MESYUARAT JAWATANKUASA INDUK BIL.2 DAN SIDANG MEDIA SAMBUTAN PERAYAAN HARI MALAYSIA PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN TAHUN 2026 🇲🇾

YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Pengarah UNIFOR, telah menghadiri Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Induk Bil. 2 serta Sidang Media Sambutan Perayaan Hari Malaysia Peringkat Kebangsaan Tahun 2026 yang berlangsung di The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching, pagi tadi.

Mesyuarat tersebut dipengerusikan bersama oleh YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Menteri Pelancongan, Industri Kreatif dan Seni Persembahan merangkap Menteri Belia, Sukan dan Pembangunan Usahawan Sarawak serta Menteri Bertanggungjawab bagi Sambutan Perayaan Hari Malaysia Peringkat Kebangsaan Tahun 2026; dan YB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, Menteri Komunikasi Malaysia, yang turut serta melalui platform Zoom.

Turut hadir ialah YB Datuk Abdullah bin Haji Saidol, Timbalan Menteri di Jabatan Premier Sarawak (Hal Ehwal Korporat, Penerangan dan UKAS); YB Datuk Haji Ibrahim bin Baki, Timbalan Menteri Utiliti (Sarawak Energy Berhad dan PETROS); YBhg. Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Komunikasi; YBhg. Datu Hii Chang Kee, Timbalan Setiausaha Kerajaan Sarawak (Operasi); YBhg. Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed, Setiausaha Bahagian Kanan (Pengurusan), Kementerian Komunikasi; serta YBhg. Datu Hamdan bin Haji Sharbini, Pengarah Unit Protokol, Istiadat dan Pengurusan Acara Sarawak.

Sambutan Hari Malaysia 2026 di Sarawak akan berlangsung dari 10 hingga 16 September 2026, dengan lima acara utama:

1. Pameran Mini Hari Malaysia 2026 – anjuran bersama Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (JAPEN) dan Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawak (UKAS);
2. Pameran Hari Malaysia 2026 – anjuran bersama JAPEN dan UKAS;
3. Majlis Kesyukuran Agama-Agama Lain Sempena Sambutan Perayaan Hari Malaysia 2026 – anjuran Unit Hal Ehwal Agama-Agama Lain (UNIFOR);
4. Majlis Kesyukuran Sempena Sambutan Perayaan Hari Malaysia 2026 – anjuran Jabatan Agama Islam Sarawak (JAIS); dan
5. Perhimpunan Sambutan Hari Malaysia 2026.

Kesemua acara ini diadakan bagi memperingati pembentukan Malaysia serta meraikan semangat kebersamaan, kepelbagaian dan keharmonian rakyat.

UNIFOR STRENGTHENING GOVERNANCE & PUBLIC TRUST 🤝

UNIFOR hosted its 2nd Heads of Religions & Houses of Worship Audit Readiness Engagement Session (No. 2/2026) today, bringing together Heads of Religions and representatives of Houses of Worship from across Sarawak.

Led by UNIFOR Director YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, the session was attended by religious leaders, including ACS Chairman YBhg. The Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute and Roman Catholic Archbishop YBhg. Dato Dr Simon Poh, together with representatives of Houses of Worship.

The engagement focused on recent audit observations shared by the Internal Audit Unit, Department of the Premier of Sarawak, as well as financial compliance, proper documentation and good governance in the management of UNIFOR assistance.

More importantly, the session provided an open platform for dialogue, clarification and better understanding of the responsibilities that come with receiving public funds.

Through continuous engagement with our religious leaders and Houses of Worship, UNIFOR remains committed to strengthening accountability, transparency and prudent management of public funds — ensuring that every ringgit of assistance entrusted to our communities is properly managed and used for its intended purpose.

Good governance builds public trust. And public trust is a responsibility we share.

UNIFOR ASSISTANCE FUND PRESENTATION – ARCHBISHOP’S HOUSE, KUCHING

YB Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, together with YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), presented a RM500,000 cheque under the UNIFOR Assistance Fund for Houses of Worship of Other Religions, Phase 1/2026, to YBhg. Dato Most Rev. Dr. Simon Poh, Archbishop of Kuching.

The assistance will support improvement works to the Archbishop’s House in Kuching, contributing towards a safer, more comfortable and well-maintained residence.

Also present was YBhg. Archbishop Emeritus Dato John Ha.

It is hoped that the assistance will facilitate the necessary improvement works and ensure that the Archbishop’s House remains a safe, comfortable and suitable residence for the Archbishop of Kuching.

⛪️ 🙏🏼UNITED IN PRAYER FOR SARAWAK AND BEYOND🙏🏼⛪️

In light of the ongoing haze affecting Sarawak and communities across Borneo, as well as the devastating floods in Nepal, the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) gathered this afternoon with key leaders from the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) in a time of prayer.

The session was joined by YBhg. His Grace Archbishop Dato Dr. Simon Poh leading the Roman Catholic faith, Reverend Johnson Lapok representing the Anglican faith, and Mr. Ronnie Hii from the Methodist faith.

Together, prayers were offered for the safety, health, and well-being of the people of Sarawak and our neighbours across Borneo, for relief from the haze, and for comfort, strength, and protection for all those affected by the floods in Nepal.

This gathering with ACS reflects our shared concern for those facing difficult circumstances. UNIFOR will continue to stand together with our brothers and sisters of other faiths, joining our prayers and hopes for these same intentions.

In challenging times, compassion knows no boundaries. As Sarawakians, we stand together in care, solidarity, and prayer for one another and for those beyond our shores.

Please stay safe and look out for one another.

Jumlah keseluruhan penyerahan bantuan hari ini adalah 10 cek sebanyak RM4,045,000.
