Global trade patterns are shifting. Sustainability expectations are rising. Energy and food security are reshaping decisions across the oils and fats sector.

For businesses and industry leaders, staying ahead means understanding how these forces could affect markets, supply chains and future opportunities.

That is the focus of the 2nd Malaysian Palm Oil Forum Kuala Lumpur (MPOF KL) 2026 , which brings policymakers, international experts and industry decision-makers together to examine the developments shaping the future of the global palm oil industry.

A good cooking oil should work with the dish, not compete with it.

At Palm Conversations International (PCI) India 2026, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) brought that idea into the kitchen through a live cooking demonstration by Chef Neha Deepak Shah.

From savoury pasta to chocolate cupcakes, Chef Neha demonstrated how palm oil can perform across different cooking methods. Its neutral taste allows the flavours of the dish to stand out, while its functionality supports stir-frying and helps create a moist, tender texture in baking.

She also highlighted that palm oil is naturally free of trans fats and cholesterol, adding another practical consideration for everyday cooking.

For consumers, the takeaway is straightforward. Versatility matters when one ingredient needs to work across different recipes, flavours, and cooking techniques.

From science to the kitchen, PCI India 2026 brought the conversation closer to the choices people make every day.

When conversations about cooking oils become simply “good” or “bad”, the science can get muddled.

At Palm Conversations International (PCI) India 2026, Ms. Niti Desai, Clinical Dietitian and President Elect of the International Association of Dietitians for Metabolic Health and Nutrition (IADMN), explored the evidence surrounding palm oil and diet-related non-communicable diseases.

Her presentation examined emerging research on palm tocotrienols in areas including cardiometabolic ageing, lipid profiles, and antioxidant status, while also looking at the naturally occurring nutrients in red palm oil and how processing can influence their levels.

The takeaway is not to judge nutrition through a single ingredient. It is to look at the evidence, understand the wider dietary context and make better-informed choices.

Through PCI, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) is helping bring scientific evidence into clearer conversations around nutrition and health.

As we live longer, understanding what happens to the brain as it ages is becoming increasingly important.

At Palm Conversations International India 2026, Dr A. Hannah Rachel Vasanthi, Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, School of Life Sciences, Pondicherry University, explored the biological processes associated with neurodegenerative disorders and the emerging research surrounding tocotrienols.

Her presentation looked at factors including oxidative stress, inflammation, neurotransmitter imbalance, and mitochondrial dysfunction, and examined how tocotrienols are being studied in relation to these pathways.

The science of healthy ageing is complex. Understanding the mechanisms involved, and examining emerging evidence carefully, can help move the conversation beyond assumptions towards better-informed perspectives on nutrition and health.

Through PCI India 2026, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) continues to provide a platform where scientific evidence can be examined, discussed, and translated into clearer conversations around health and nutrition.
