Woohoo! Direct train to Bangkok!
Think of all the food… and all the shopping

A new direct train service linking Bangkok's Bang Sue Grand Station and Butterworth, Penang, is set to launch in early 2025, offering a seamless travel experience between these two lively destinations.
This initiative is a collaboration between the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), as reported by Malay Mail in August 2024.
The service will undergo a six-month trial period before full implementation.
The project aims to enhance Malaysia-Thailand relations while encouraging more Thai visitors to explore Penang's renowned cuisine, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant festivals.
