“Pengajaran daripada tragedi 13 mei ini amat jelas. Negara ini tidak akan membenarkan mana mana pihak untuk mengadu domba dan menghasut masyarakat yang akan menyebabkan permusuhan sesama mereka. Untuk memastikan tragedi ini tidak akan berulang di masa hadapan, kita kena memastikan isu yang akan mengeruhkan perhubungan antara kaum tidak akan dimainkan oleh pihak yang tidak bertanggungjawab. Kita boleh capai matlamat ini jika kita meletakkan isu ini jauh daripada jangkauan perkauman, komunis, dan golongan pelampau yang lain. Kita perlu membina satu kerangka politik yang sedar dan peka akan masalah sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat kita di mana ia diasaskan di atas satu batu asas yang kukuh.”

HARI INI DALAM SEJARAH
TRAGEDI 13 MEI 1969

Hari ini genap 57 tahun berlakunya satu peristiwa hitam dalam sejarah negara, iaitu Tragedi 13 Mei 1969. Tragedi ini tercetus susulan Pilihan Raya Umum yang berlangsung pada 10 Mei 1969, apabila ketegangan serta sentimen perkauman disuarakan secara terbuka dan dimanipulasi oleh pihak-pihak tertentu demi kepentingan politik. Peristiwa tersebut telah mengorbankan banyak nyawa serta mengakibatkan kemusnahan harta benda.

Tragedi ini turut membuka mata pelbagai pihak tentang pentingnya menangani jurang sosial dan ekonomi dalam kalangan masyarakat Malaysia demi menjamin perpaduan dan kestabilan negara. Susulan itu, darurat telah diisytiharkan di seluruh negara dan Majlis Gerakan Negara (MAGERAN) ditubuhkan sebagai badan pentadbiran sementara.

MAGERAN kemudiannya mengadakan perbincangan bersama pelbagai pihak bagi mencari jalan memperkukuh perpaduan nasional serta membina asas yang lebih kukuh untuk mengembalikan demokrasi berparlimen. Hasil daripada usaha tersebut, lahirlah Rukun Negara sebagai ideologi kebangsaan dan panduan dalam membentuk masyarakat Malaysia yang bersatu padu.

📖 Sejarah Perkembangan Keretapi Malaysia

Keretapi Malaysia mempunyai sejarah selama 147 tahun bermula di Johor pada tahun 1875. Pada awalnya, perkhidmatan kereta api digunakan untuk mengangkut bahan galian dan mineral ke pelabuhan sebelum berkembang menjadi pengangkutan penumpang. Bermula dengan enjin wap, kemudian diesel dan seterusnya kuasa elektrik, perkembangan teknologi ini meningkatkan kelajuan kereta api daripada 60 kilometer sejam kepada 160 kilometer sejam.

Rangkaian landasan kereta api sepanjang lebih 800 kilometer menghubungkan Semenanjung Malaysia dari Perlis hingga ke Singapura dengan Kuala Lumpur sebagai pusat operasi. Kini, projek Laluan Rel Pantai Timur (ECRL) sepanjang kira-kira 650 kilometer sedang dibina dan dijangka siap pada tahun 2026.

Perdana Leadership Foundation invites you to join our second cataloguing workshop of 2026; the Workshop on Dewey Decimal Classification (Edition 2024) Scheme for Libraries and Information Centers.

Below are the details of the DDC Workshop:

Date: 29th June – 1st July 2026
Time: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
Venue: Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya

This workshop will provide useful training on the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme that will improve the knowledge and skills of librarians and specialist cataloguers. This workshop will be conducted by an experienced librarian and professional trainer with more than 30 years’ experience, Assoc. Prof. (R) Hamidah binti A Rahman, a former lecturer at UiTM.

Programme Objective
1. To provide training in the cataloguing & classification of information packages in libraries & resource centers.
2. To improve knowledge and skills on daily tasks for library staff & cataloguers (New & Experienced).

Registration from RM900 per pax. The registration fee includes all course materials, refreshments, and certificate.Please note that accommodation & transportation are excluded from the fees.
You will have to make your own arrangements on these.

The Perdana Library was officially launched 22 years ago today on 29 April 2004 by Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, with a vision to become a comprehensive research library dedicated to Malaysia’s past Prime Ministers and the policies that have shaped the nation.

Today, it stands as a rich repository of knowledge, preserving over 12,000 physical titles and more than 275,000 digital records covering national policies, strategies, and nation-building efforts.

Open to the public, the library offers free basic membership, with borrowing access available for just RM10 annually. Beyond being a collection of documents, it serves as a space for Malaysians to reflect on our development journey, understand the contributions of past leaders, and gain insights for the future.

Surrounded by a serene lake setting, the Perdana Library offers a calm and peaceful environment—ideal for reading, research, and reflection. Through collaborations with institutions such as the National Library and National Archives, and ongoing digitisation efforts, it continues to expand access to Malaysia’s historical and policy knowledge.
