4 OGOS 2026 | MESYUARAT PENYELARASAN PROJEK "CONSULTATION SERVICES FOR COASTAL HYDRAULIC, EROSION AND SILTATION OR SEDIMENTATION STUDY AT PENANG PORT TERMINAL AREAS, VESSEL PASSAGE AND NORTH CHANNEL OF PENANG ISLAND"
Mesyuarat Penyelarasan Projek "Consultation Services for Coastal Hydraulic, Erosion and Siltation or Sedimentation Study at Penang Port Terminal Areas, Vessel Passage and North Channel of Penang Island" secara dalam talian telah diadakan pada 4 Ogos 2026 dipengerusikan oleh Tuan Haji Jafrul Fazli bin Jaafar, Head of Transformation and Head of SPALTech (Special Project) Penang Port Sdn Bhd. Manakala pasukan NAHRIM diketuai oleh YBrs. Timbalan Ketua Pengarah NAHRIM, Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Safari bin Hj. Mat Desa bersama-sama pegawai penyelidik Pusat Kajian Pantai dan Oseanografi (PKPO)
Mesyuarat ini diadakan bagi menyelaras pelaksanaan kajian yang akan dilaksanakan oleh NAHRIM setelah dilantik sebagai perunding teknikal bagi projek berkenaan. Perbincangan memberi tumpuan kepada penyelarasan skop kerja, metodologi pelaksanaan kajian, serta keperluan teknikal dan pentadbiran bagi memastikan pelaksanaan projek berjalan secara sistematik, berkesan dan mematuhi objektif yang telah ditetapkan.
Antara perkara utama yang dibincangkan termasuk memuktamadkan skop pelaksanaan projek, analisis jurang (gap analysis) terhadap cadangan teknikal dan kewangan, perincian pengumpulan data, termasuk penetapan tempoh pelaksanaan setiap fasa kajian. Kajian ini dijangka menyediakan penilaian saintifik yang komprehensif terhadap aspek hidraulik pantai, hakisan, serta proses sedimentasi di kawasan terminal Penang Port, laluan perkapalan dan North Channel Pulau Pinang. Hasil kajian akan menjadi asas teknikal yang kukuh dalam menyokong perancangan, pengurusan dan pembangunan infrastruktur maritim yang mampan, di samping meningkatkan kecekapan operasi pelabuhan serta mengurangkan kos aktiviti pengorekan (desludging) akibat pemendapan di alur pelayaran dan perubahan morfologi pesisir pantai, seterusnya mengurangkan risiko terhadap keselamatan pelayaran.

4 AUGUST 2026 | COORDINATION MEETING FOR THE "CONSULTATION SERVICES FOR COASTAL HYDRAULIC, EROSION AND SILTATION OR SEDIMENTATION STUDY AT PENANG PORT TERMINAL AREAS, VESSEL PASSAGE AND NORTH CHANNEL OF PENANG ISLAND" PROJECT
The Project Coordination Meeting for the "Consultation Services for Coastal Hydraulic, Erosion and Siltation or Sedimentation Study at Penang Port Terminal Areas, Vessel Passage and North Channel of Penang Island" was held virtually on 4 August 2026 and was chaired by Tuan Haji Jafrul Fazli bin Jaafar, Head of Transformation and Head of SPALTech (Special Project), Penang Port Sdn. Bhd. The NAHRIM delegation was led by YBrs. Deputy Director General of NAHRIM, Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Safari bin Hj. Mat Desa, together with research officers from the Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO).
The meeting was convened to coordinate the implementation of the study to be undertaken by NAHRIM following its appointment as the technical consultant for the project. The discussion focused on the coordination of the scope of work, study implementation methodology, as well as the technical and administrative requirements to ensure that the project is implemented in a systematic and effective manner, in accordance with the established objectives.
Among the key matters discussed were the finalisation of the project implementation scope, the gap analysis of the proposed technical and financial components, and the detailed planning of data collection, including the determination of the implementation period for each phase of the study. The study is expected to provide a comprehensive scientific assessment of coastal hydraulics, erosion, and sedimentation processes within the Penang Port terminal areas, vessel passage, and the North Channel of Penang Island. The findings of the study will serve as a robust technical basis to support the planning, management, and sustainable development of maritime infrastructure, while enhancing port operational efficiency and reducing the costs associated with dredging activities resulting from sediment deposition within the navigation channel and changes in coastal morphology, thereby reducing risks to navigational safety.
