Official statement
incident during so hikers 3rd year anniversary
29 March 2026
*What happened?*
During the So Hikers 3rd Anniversary hike involving approximately 300 participants at Kebun Che Mah and Bukit Pau, an operation was conducted by the Jabatan Perhutanan at Bukit Pau. As part of this, a number of hikers were temporarily stopped due to permit-related concerns.
Prior to the event, the organising team had undertaken the necessary preparations, including obtaining a police permit covering Kebun Che Mah and Bukit Pau, informing relevant parties of the event, arranging access, and preparing logistics such as food and beverages.
During the operation, there appeared to be differences in records and coordination regarding the notification of our activity, which led to the situation on site.
*Where do we stand now?*
The So Hikers team has been fully cooperative with the authorities and is actively supporting all necessary follow-ups.
We understand that all participants had registered for hiking purpose. we sincerely apologise for this experience. For participants who were required to provide their details and assist in subsequent procedures, we would like to assure that So Hikers is taking responsibility for the coordination and is committed to supporting those affected.

*How will we move forward?*
