💡🌱 Ideas, purpose and collaboration came together in a meaningful victory as three of our Khazanah Watan scholars emerged champions at the Youth Economic Outlook (YEO) 2026 held at Universiti Putra Malaysia on 9 May 2026. 🏆

Muhammad Farihin bin Mohd Lotfi (Bachelor of Economics, International Islamic University Malaysia), Amira Aisha binti Ainuddin Wahid (Bachelor of Human Sciences in English Language and Literature, International Islamic University Malaysia) and Muhammad Fareez Iskandar bin Osman (Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, Universiti Malaya) joined forces with teammates Muhammad Aiman Firdaus and Aqilah Omar to form Team Hi5 for the national case study competition.

Competing alongside undergraduates from across the country, the team addressed environmental issues affecting the nation’s youth through their policy proposal, “Returning to Roots”. Their proposal highlighted the importance of Traditional Ecological Knowledge and the vital role of Indigenous youth in biodiversity conservation, while championing the values of self-determination and cultural preservation. 🌏✨ The team successfully presented and defended their policy recommendations before a distinguished panel of judges comprising representatives from various agencies and institutions.

Beyond the achievement itself, this milestone reflects the power of diverse perspectives, shared purpose and meaningful collaboration in driving impactful ideas forward 🤝 We are proud to celebrate our scholars for representing thoughtful leadership and purpose-driven excellence on the national stage.

From law to investment, Nom Naagaindra Chelvan’s journey reflects a continuous pursuit of growth and impact.

A Khazanah Watan Scholar and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduate from the University of Malaya, he is now a Legal Analyst under the Khazanah Graduate Trainee Programme (KGTP) at Khazanah Nasional Berhad. His work spans supporting investment projects while gaining exposure to financial modelling and analysis—bridging legal expertise with commercial insight.

For Nom, being a Khazanah Scholar is about more than academic achievement. It is a responsibility to lead with integrity, remain committed to excellence, and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s long-term development. This has guided his leadership journey, including serving as President of the Asian Law Students’ Association, alongside volunteer work and regional exchange experiences.

Looking ahead, he hopes to contribute towards strengthening corporate governance and legal compliance within Malaysia’s investment landscape—supporting a more transparent, trusted, and resilient ecosystem.

His reminder to fellow scholars is simple: stay curious, embrace the journey, and be intentional in giving back. Growth takes time, but purpose makes it meaningful 🇲🇾✨

Yayasan Khazanah Watan Scholar, Puteri Nur Atiqah Bandira, a PhD candidate from the School of Humanities at the Universiti Sains Malaysia, was selected for the prestigious Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program.

Her research explores the impact of solar radiation modification on flood and drought risks in Malaysia’s Muda River Basin. As part of the programme, Puteri completed a six-week professional attachment with the City of Roanoke Stormwater Utility in Virginia, gaining hands-on experience in flood resilience, water quality monitoring, and community engagement.

Building on this experience, she aims to initiate a Reciprocal Exchange Project in Penang to strengthen water governance through closer collaboration between communities and local authorities.

A meaningful step towards advancing sustainable and resilient water management for Malaysia 🇲🇾✨

Our scholars embody excellence in many forms, extending beyond academic achievement into creativity and the arts. Fatin Alia Binti Khairuddin, a Khazanah Global Scholar currently in her first year pursuing a BSc in Actuarial Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science, recently took on the lead role in LSE Mnight.

The production brought Malaysian folklore to life, featuring iconic figures such as Mahsuri, Si Tanggang, Santubong and Sejinjang, and Monsopiad through a compelling “night at the museum” storyline. Audiences followed a group of students navigating this world and interacting with these legendary characters in unexpected ways.

A meaningful showcase of culture and storytelling on the global stage. Well done, Fatin 🇲🇾✨
