Confidence in children grows from feeling capable, not from repeatedly being told they’re great. The goal is to give your child many small experiences of “I tried, I handled it, and I improved.”

And learning to swim is one of the best places to experience exactly that. 🏊‍♀️

At first, your child might be afraid to put their face in the water. Then they learn to float. They practise kicking. They swim a few metres. And one day, they realise they can move through the water all by themselves.

Learning swimming strokes is important, but water safety comes first.

Beginners in Supersharkz’s Beginner Swim Program do not start by learning swimming strokes. Instead, they build essential water safety skills first, such as breath control, floating, recovering to the surface, staying calm in the water, and moving safely toward an exit.

Why does this matter? Because knowing a swimming stroke does not always mean knowing what to do when you are tired, lose your footing, or suddenly feel uncomfortable in the water.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t — and yes, we might look a little ridiculous doing it on land 😅 But land practice is crucial. It lets swimmers see the movement clearly, repeat it over and over, and build the muscle memory they need to perform it naturally in the water.

Dear swimmers, parents, and coaches,

In response to requests from our swimming community and to avoid a clash with another swimming competition taking place on 3–4 October 2026, our Novice Swim Meet will now be held on 10–11 October 2026.

📅 NEW DATES: 10–11 October 2026
📍 VENUE: Akuatik Selangor
