DAP Wanita Sibu honour their pledge to donate some of their proceeds from the recent food sale to our elderly people in the Old Folks' Home, Oya Road. We bought some goodies for their personal consumption and mingled with them for the afternoon. And we had fun joining them in the church service brought to them from Wesley Methodist Church in Sibu.

DAP Wanita Sibu had a successful food sale held at the Jalan Pedada Sunday market on 5 October 2013. Wanita thank all the supporters, sponsors and helpers who had contributed to the success of the event. Wanita Sibu acknowledges that the event would not have been so successful without the help and moral support of these individuals. The aim of the food sale was to raise funds for wanita projects in the coming year as well as to make donations to some needy and charitable organisations. The recipients of the intended donations and the sums donated would be made known at a later date.

Wanita gave a tea party for the children at Methodist's Children Home. At hand to help was YB Oscar Ling and YB David Wong. The children were so well behaved that we promised them the next round would be a KFC treat. :) Tea party was sponsored by Mr & Mrs Ling (as they wish to be known) and Mr & Mrs Yu Hung Kee.

Press Statement for Food Fair – 26 August 2013
DAP Wanita Sibu is organizing a fund raising food fair on 5 October (Saturday) to be held at 16, Lorong Chew Siik Hiong from 8am to 1pm.
Irene Chang, its chairperson said there are 2 objects for organizing the food fair.
The first object is to raise funds for their wanita projects / forums for the coming year and which forums shall focus on women, family and social issues in our community.
Chang says, “Our wanita intends to organize forums or activities for single mothers, forums on health issues and on educating people on the vices of social ills like gambling which has been causing a lot of social problems in our society. Some of the speakers, who are experienced in these fields, are from West Malaysia and who shall of course, need food and accommodation for their stay here.”
The second object is to contribute to charitable organisations. Fifty percent of the proceeds earned from the food fair will go towards providing some necessities to the Old Folks Home in Jalan Ulu Oya, Sibu.
“We understand that there are presently 88 senior citizens in the centre and we shall arrange to go in sometime to visit them,” Chang says.
For the items to be sold at the food fair, there will be food items like bags of rice, dumplings, drinks, cakes, eggs, noodles. For non-food items, pet foods and attractive ang pows packets will be on sale.
There are also 10 boxes of Ubah Mooncake and Ubah Light Cheese Cake (1 kilo) being offered for sale for RM100.00 each.
Chang says, “The Ubah Mooncakes are being sponsored byWong Ho Leng and has four flavours of Pure Lotus Pandan, Red Bean Paste, Pure Lotus Single Yolk and Pure White Lotus. Since we started selling yesterday, 5 boxes already have been sold. For the Ubah Light Cheese Cake, I have personally bought one to try out with our office staff. And I have to say that it tasted good. “
Apart from the above, there are also fresh white pomfrets for sale at RM100.00 per fish. Irene Chang says that at press time, 40 orders have already been received since they started selling the tickets 2 days ago. Those interested in placing their orders can call Ms Chieng at 084-320458 / 332624.
For canine lovers, Dap Wanita Sibu has also 2 Golden retrievers, 2 Shih Tzu and 2 Chihuahua puppies for sale.
Irene Chang appeals to the people to generously support the fund raising. Coupons are going for RM20.00 per book and can be purchased from Wong Ho Leng’s office (084-320458 / 332624) and DAP Wanita’s representatives: Ms Chieng (0198186685), Ms Wong Yien Ting (0168092105), Ms Ling Yien Lin (0198878033) and Madam Joyce Yong (0109827040).
