On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Mozambique solemnly organized a celebration at the Maputo Natural History Museum on August 27.
The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Salim Valá, Minister of Planning and Development of Mozambique, representing the Government of Mozambique; H.E. Mr. Casimiro Augusto Mueio, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Defense of Mozambique; and over 250 guests including representatives from the leadership of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, the FRELIMO party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, and relevant ministries and agencies; Ambassadors, Chargés d'Affaires, members of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Maputo; representatives of Maputo city departments, local economic, investment, and trade promotion agencies, businesses, experts, scholars, Mozambican friends, and former Mozambican students in Viet Nam; as well as Vietnamese experts, enterprises, and a large number of the Vietnamese community living and working in Mozambique.
During the program, local and international friends had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a cultural and artistic space rich in the identities of both Viet Nam and Mozambique. The bustling drum beats accompanied by the powerful, energetic Xigubo dance - a traditional Mozambican dance performed by students from Josina Machel High School - created an extremely vibrant atmosphere.
The Vietnamese conical hat dance performed by students from Joaquim Chissano University brought a completely different touch, showcasing the gracefulness, softness, elegance, and charm of Vietnamese culture. The seamless combination of both nations' arts and culture on the same stage not only honored national pride but also highlighted the beauty of the enduring, deep-rooted solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
In addition to music, the event offered guests a complete cultural experience through an art exhibition and traditional cuisine.
At the exhibition area, attendees were particularly impressed by emotional artworks created by high school students in Maputo for the painting contest on President Ho Chi Minh organized by the Embassy on the 139th anniversary of his birth. Displayed alongside were iconic photos reviewing the bilateral relations between Viet Nam and Mozambique, as well as the rustic, delicate, and deeply traditional D**g Ho folk paintings. This was also an opportunity for Mozambican and international friends to savor signature Vietnamese dishes such as beef pho, savory yellow sticky rice (xoi xeo), fried spring rolls, banana flower salad, pomelo sweet soup, etc.
