The women’s ministry of the One Body Apostolic Faith Church in Namibia donated baby items to the maternity ward at Katima Mulilo State Hospital in the Zambezi Region as part of its charity outreach programme.

Church members marched to the hospital on Saturday before handing over the donated items during the church’s annual women’s conference, which is running from 21 to 24 May 2026, in Katima Mulilo.

The donation included receiving blankets, baby clothes, diapers, lotions and baby scoops for newborn babies.

Speaking at the handover, women’s ministry representative Mwale Sakuwa said the initiative forms part of the church’s commitment to giving back to communities hosting its conferences.

She said the church chose the maternity ward to support mothers who struggle to afford basic necessities for their newborns, while also recognising the work done by nurses caring for mothers and babies.

“We know among us there are people who are needy and some are not able to get something for their babies. As a church, we felt it was necessary for us to contribute something,” she said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, sister in charge of the maternity ward Susan Nchindo thanked the church for the gesture, saying many mothers admitted to the ward arrive without essentials such as blankets, diapers and baby covers.

She said the donated items will provide comfort and support to vulnerable mothers and newborn babies receiving care at the facility, while praising the church for its generosity towards struggling families in the region.
