ITEC Day 2026 Celebrated at High Commission of India, Windhoek

The High Commission of India, Windhoek, celebrated ITEC Day 2026 on 17 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation. The event brought together more than 120 ITEC Alumni from Namibia, making it a vibrant and successful celebration of the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Namibia.

The programme highlighted the significant contribution of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme towards capacity building and human resource development in partner countries. Over the years, more than 1700 Namibian professionals have benefited from ITEC training programmes in India, gaining valuable knowledge, skills and professional exposure across diverse fields.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner welcomed the ITEC alumni, describing ITEC as a crucial bridge transforming the historic camaraderie of the liberation struggle into tangible human capital and sustainable growth. Highlighting the real-world impact of the initiative, the High Commissioner praised the Namibian alumni as the "true ambassadors" of India-Namibia friendship who occupy leadership roles across both civilian and defence sectors. He also warmly acknowledged the presence of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) alumni, noting that their academic excellence beautifully completes the holistic bilateral partnership.

Another key highlight of the celebration included presentations by ITEC Alumni, who shared experiences of their stay and training in India. The Alumni spoke about their professional learning, interactions with Indian institutions and counterparts and their experiences of Indian culture, traditions and hospitality. Their presentations reflected the lasting impact of the ITEC programme, both professionally and personally.

The large participation of ITEC Alumni and the enthusiastic interaction during the programme reflected the strong and continuing people-to-people ties between India and Namibia. The occasion also provided an opportunity for former ITEC participants to reconnect with one another and strengthen the ITEC Alumni network in Namibia.

The successful celebration of ITEC Day 2026 reaffirmed the importance of the ITEC Programme as an important instrument of India’s development partnership and its commitment to sharing knowledge, expertise and capacity-building opportunities with partner countries.

The High Commission looks forward to continued engagement with the ITEC Alumni community in Namibia and to further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Namibia.
