International Identity Day 2026 ||

Today, Namibia joined the rest of the world in commemorating International Identity Day under the theme, “My Identity, My Shadow. Never Apart.”

The Day was hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security at the Dr Lemmer Secondary School in Rehoboth highlighted the importance of legal identity for every Namibian, from birth registration to the digital age, while calling for stronger efforts to ensure no one is left undocumented.

Study on Children Living and Working on the Streets||

The Ministry of Gender and Child Welfare, through its Directorates of Policy, Planning and Research and Gender Equality, Child Care and Protection, is set to conduct a regional study on children living and working on the streets.

A one-day stakeholder briefing is currently held in the Hardap Region in Mariental. The engagement aims to brief regional leadership and key stakeholders on the study’s objectives, scope and methodology, while outlining their roles and seeking support during data collection.

The study will examine the prevalence, characteristics, drivers, vulnerabilities and service needs of children living and working on the streets, generating evidence to inform policies, programmes and interventions.

The main study will be conducted across Khomas, Erongo, Hardap and Omaheke regions.

NamOSS conducts EmONC skills training||

The Namibia Obstetric Surveillance System (NamOSS) is conducting a two-day Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Skills Training at Mariental District Hospital from 8–9 September 2026.

The training brings healthcare professionals together to strengthen their capacity in managing maternal and newborn emergencies, covering areas such as hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, postpartum haemorrhage, maternal sepsis, obstetric haemorrhage, neonatal resuscitation, shoulder dystocia and vaginal breech delivery.

The programme also includes practical skills stations and scenario-based learning to enhance the readiness of healthcare workers to respond effectively to obstetric and newborn emergencies.

ARANOS YOUTH EXPO 2026 IS HERE ||

The official opening of the Aranos Youth Expo is currently taking place.

The Expo is aimed bringing together young people, community members and stakeholders for a week packed with exciting activities and opportunities in a career fair, Entrepreneurial Day, Cultural Festival including many activities.

The expo is hosted under the theme ‘Restoring the Youth dignity through linkages to opportunities’.

The expo started on 28 August and is expected to end on the 05 September 2026.
