Hardap Governor Riaan McNab highlighted the important role of communication in improving access to government services and information.

The Government Information Centre (GIC), housed at the Hardap Regional Council, continues to serve as a hub for public information dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and awareness creation. Through community outreach programmes, social media platforms, community radio, and the use of local languages where necessary, the region is strengthening inclusivity, promoting public awareness, and encouraging citizen participation in development initiatives.

The Namibia Film Commission (NFC) hosted a Filmmaker Engagement and Funding Information Session in Mariental this afternoon.

The engagement brought together aspiring and established filmmakers, content creators, and other creatives from the Hardap Region to learn more about funding opportunities, industry support mechanisms, and initiatives offered by the NFC which is aimed at growing Namibia’s film and creative sectors.

Through sessions such as these, the NFC continues to support local talent, promote storytelling, and create pathways for the sustainable development of the country’s creative economy.

The programme continues on 06 June 2026 with the screening of a selection of Namibian short films, culminating in the premiere screening of Domingo and Friends at the Mariental Municipality Community Hall. The screenings provide a platform to showcase local talent and celebrate the diversity of Namibian storytelling.
