Hon. Verna Sinimbo, Governor of Kavango West Region, today officiated the Regional Consultative Meeting on the Development of the Third National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2031), held in Nkurenkuru.

The engagement, led by the Anti-Corruption Commission of Namibia under the leadership of Deputy Director-General Adv. Erna Van der Merwe, brought together regional and local authority leadership, traditional authorities, law enforcement, government institutions, community leaders, and other stakeholders to contribute towards the development of a stronger national anti-corruption framework.

In her keynote address, Hon. Sinimbo emphasized that the fight against corruption requires collective responsibility and active participation from all sectors of society. She noted that corruption remains one of the greatest obstacles to development as it delays service delivery, weakens institutions, discourages investment, and negatively affects ordinary citizens who depend on government services.

The Governor further stressed that for regions such as Kavango West, where communities continue to require improved infrastructure, quality education, healthcare services, employment opportunities, and rural development, public resources must be utilised responsibly and transparently.

Hon. Sinimbo encouraged participants to engage openly and constructively throughout the consultations, highlighting that meaningful input from communities and stakeholders will help shape a practical, inclusive, and responsive National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan for the period 2026–2031.

She concluded by calling on all Namibians to continue promoting honesty, accountability, justice, and integrity in both public and private institutions for the betterment of the country.

Strengthening Food Security: A Partnership for the Future

Today, Hon. Verna Sinimbo Governor of Kavango West Region, held a productive courtesy engagement with Dr. Fidelis Mwazi, CEO of the Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) and his team

The highlight of this meeting was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the NAB’s incredible commitment to our region. The NAB has pledged N$100,000.00 worth of fruit tree seedlings to support the Tapeka, Lima, Tulye Regional Tree Planting Project (Plant, Cultivate, Harvest).

Scaling Up the "Tapeka, Lima, Tulye" Project
This strategic donation will directly fuel our mission to ensure every household in Kavango West receives at least two fruit trees, fostering a culture of self-reliance and environmental stewardship.

A Shared Vision for Horticulture

During the engagement, the NAB provided an overview of their mandate, which Governor Sinimbo noted aligns perfectly with the developmental needs of Kavango West. This partnership is a firm foundation for a food-secure and economically empowered region.
By integrating this initiative into our schools and communities, we are not just planting trees, we are planting the seeds of nutrition, resilience, and prosperity for future generations.

"This is a clear demonstration of what we can achieve when we work together with a shared vision." — Hon. Verna Sinimbo

Strengthening Partnerships for Agricultural Transformation in Kavango West.

Wednesday 22 April 2026, the Office of the Governor of Kavango West Region had the distinct honour of hosting a courtesy visit from representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), under the Technical Cooperation Project, the Northern Small-Scale Farmers Livelihood Enhancement Project (N-SHEP).

The delegation, led by Mr. Leevi Nekwaya, Deputy Director of DAPEES under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, together with JICA experts and Kavango West Region Dapees represntatives , paid a courtesy call to the Hon. Governor, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between the Republic of Namibia and the Government of Japan.

In her welcoming remarks, Hon. Governor Verna Sinimbo highlighted the transformative impact of the N-SHEP project, which has been implemented since 2021. She emphasized that the initiative goes beyond traditional farming support by instilling a market-oriented mindset among small-scale farmers.

The powerful principle of “Produce to Sell, not Produce and Sell” continues to reshape how farmers approach agriculture, encouraging planning, market research, and strategic decision-making to improve productivity and income generation.

The Governor further noted that this initiative directly addresses key challenges faced by farmers in the region, including limited access to markets, post-harvest losses, and low income levels. The project stands as a ray of hope in advancing sustainable agriculture and rural development across Kavango West.

As engagements continue, the region looks forward to strengthening collaboration, sharing lessons, and exploring opportunities to scale up this impactful programme to reach more farmers across all constituencies.

The Governor extended sincere appreciation to JICA and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform for their continued commitment to empowering communities and driving agricultural transformation.

Together, we are cultivating resilience, promoting innovation, and building a prosperous future for our farmers.
