𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 | Strengthening Rukwangali First Language in Rundu

Rundu proudly hosted NIEDs' first cascading NSSCAS/NSSCO Rukwangali First Language Teachers’ Training Workshop from 13 - 17 July 2026. The program brought together more than 35 passionate teachers and education professionals to strengthen teaching, assessment and the effective implementation of the NSSCAS and NSSCO syllabi.

Guided by lead facilitator and SEO Ms Sylvia Noa, with co-facilitators Mr Mpasi, Mr Ngoma, Mr Mandjoro, Mr Jesaya, and Ms Nauyoma, participants engaged in structured sessions covering syllabus overviews, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and text analysis objectives, supported by specimen papers and practical activities.

The workshop aimed to:
✔ Equip teachers with practical skills and innovative strategies for classroom delivery.
✔ Align teaching practices with syllabus requirements and assessment standards.
✔ Foster collaboration and professional growth among Rukwangali First Language educators.
✔ Reinforce NIED’s commitment to continuous teacher development and quality education.

Outcomes
✔ Teachers gained renewed confidence in teaching and assessment.
✔ Practical strategies for reading, writing, listening, speaking, and text analysis were strengthened.
✔ Facilitators emphasized syllabus alignment with specimen papers to ensure effective classroom practice.
✔ The workshop reinforced collaboration, professionalism, and growth, leaving participants better prepared to implement the NSSCAS/NSSCO Rukwangali curriculum.

The commitment and diligence of the team was commandable.

𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘| The Afrikaans Second Language AS Cambridge Workshops were held in two phases.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝟏: Initial workshop that took place at Von Bach Dam (Okahandja) from 1- 4 June 2026, facilitated by Ronél Gouws from Cambridge.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝟐: Cascading workshop that was hosted at the Avani Hotel, Windhoek from 23 - 26 June 2026, led by NIEDs' SEO for Afrikaans, Ms. Violet Davis and teachers Ms Janine Strauss, Ms Amor Platt and Mr Gerdus Feris.

Both workshops shared the same objectives: to deliver the NSSCAS syllabus confidently, use assessment effectively, set and mark exam papers, apply assessment criteria, and design learner-support activities, while also cascading training to colleagues and networks.

The first workshop capacitated educators to cascade knowledge, and the second ensured this sharing reached wider audiences, reflecting the pride in Namibian teachers who strengthen their skills and extend them for the betterment of learners nationwide.

𝐌𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 | Take a look at our Multigrade Teaching Workshop, taking place this week in the Kunene Region, from 28-30 July 2026, bringing together 62 dedicated educators.

Its purpose is to empower Multigrade teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and practical skills needed to teach effectively in diverse classroom settings. This workshop focused on:
