PUBLIC ALERT: BUSHFIRE OPERATIONS IN PROGRESS ALONG REINHOLD SHILONGO TOWARDS THE AIRPORT

​The Tsumeb Municipality Emergency Services Department wishes to inform residents that fire crews are currently on site responding to a bushfire in the surrounding municipal boundaries.

​Safety Guidelines for Residents:

​Keep Doors and Windows Closed: Residents in nearby residential areas are advised to close all windows and doors to prevent smoke inhalation.

​Drive with Extreme Caution: Smoke may drift across nearby roads, significantly reducing visibility.

Please exercise caution and lower your driving speed.

​Avoid the Area: Please stay clear of the affected zone to ensure emergency vehicles and firefighters have unhindered access.

​Protect Vulnerable Persons & Pets: Keep young children, elderly family members, and pets indoors, especially those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.

​Landowners are also reminded of their responsibility to maintain clean perimeter firebreaks around private properties.

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT-TEMPORARY CHANGES TO REFUSE COLLECTION

Tsumeb Municipality informs residents and businesses that temporary changes to refuse collection services remain in effect following the grounding of one of the Municipality’s two refuse compactors for mechanical repairs.

The temporary arrangements will remain in place until 30 September 2026.

CURRENT TEMPORARY COLLECTION SCHEDULE

Town Area – Household Refuse
Collection continues on Mondays as usual.

Business Premises
Collection takes place Tuesday to Friday, 07:30–16:30.

Nomtsoub – Household Refuse
Collection takes place Tuesday to Friday, 16:30–19:00.

To assist with clearing the current backlog, Nomtsoub household refuse collection will be extended through Saturday, with collection taking place from 07:00–19:00.

Residents are requested to place their refuse out on time and ensure that it is easily accessible for collection.

Tsumeb Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and businesses while the necessary mechanical repairs are underway.

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: TEMPORARY CHANGES TO REFUSE COLLECTION

Tsumeb Municipality hereby announces temporary changes to its refuse collection services following the grounding of one of its two refuse compactors for mechanical repairs.

The changes will take effect from Wednesday, 9 September until 30 September 2026, during which the remaining compactor will operate according to the following schedule:

Town Area – Household Refuse
Collection will continue on Mondays as usual.

Business Premises
Refuse collection will take place Tuesday to Friday, from 07:30 to 16:30.

Nomtsoub – Household Refuse
Collection will take place Tuesday to Friday, from 16:30 to 19:00.

The Municipality is urging residents and businesses to take note of the temporary schedule and ensure that refuse is placed out for collection accordingly.

Tsumeb Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while the compactor undergoes mechanical repairs.
