OSINO GOLD EXPLORATION AND MINING PROVIDES PROJECT UPDATE TO USAKOS TOWN COUNCIL

The Usakos Town Council hosted representatives from Osino Gold Exploration and Mining (Pty) Ltd for a courtesy visit and update on the ongoing development of the Twin Hills Gold Project.

The engagement provided an opportunity for Osino to brief Council on the current status of the project, upcoming activities and anticipated timelines, while also discussing matters of particular relevance to Usakos and surrounding communities.

Discussions included the project’s potential environmental impacts, with particular attention given to water use, biodiversity and the broader local environment. The engagement further highlighted the importance of continued consultation, responsible environmental management and open communication as the project progresses.

As a next step, a technical meeting between NamWater, the Usakos Town Council and Osino will be held to further discuss environmental matters, infrastructure, water management, and other technical considerations relevant to Usakos.

The Usakos Town Council appreciates Osino Gold Exploration and Mining (Pty) Ltd for the visit and constructive engagement. Council looks forward to continued cooperation and transparent dialogue to ensure that developments associated with the Twin Hills Gold Project take into consideration the interests and well-being of the Usakos community.

The Usakos Town Council, in support of the Erongo Regional Council’s National Clean-Up Campaign, invites the entire Usakos community to participate in a collective clean-up of our town.

📅 Date: Saturday, 19 September 2026

📍 Participants are requested to report to their nearest gathering point:

• Usakos Community Hall
• Saamstaan Main Tree
• Ongulumbashe – near the Apostolic Church
• Town Youth Centre Area
• Bo-Dorp Entrance – More Street

Residents, businesses, institutions, community organisations, churches, youth groups and all stakeholders are encouraged to participate.

🧤 Refreshments, gloves and masks will be provided.

A clean town is a shared responsibility. Let us come together, clean together and take pride in Usakos.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND REFLECTION

The Usakos Town Council extends its sincere appreciation to the entire community of Usakos, our pastors, church elders, spiritual leaders, churches, faith-based organisations and all those who participated in the National Day of Prayer and Reflection.

In response to the national call to unite in prayer amid the growing concerns of gender-based violence and gruesome killings affecting our nation, the Usakos community came together in faith to seek divine intervention for behavioural change and to pray for a safer, more peaceful Namibia.

Council particularly thanks the pastors, church elders and spiritual leaders who offered prayers, words of reflection and encouragement, as well as every member of the community who answered the call and joined us in prayer.

The message of the day remains with us:

“God Knows. God Sees. God Hears.”

May the spirit of prayer, reflection and collective responsibility shown by our community continue beyond this gathering as we stand together against violence and work towards positive behavioural change in our homes, our community and our nation.

Usakos Town Council Partners with Chakula Investments to Launch Youth Butchery Franchise

Usakos Town Council has taken a bold step towards youth economic empowerment following a productive engagement in Windhoek with Chakula Investments on the roll-out of the Chakula Youth Franchise initiative in Usakos.

Under this partnership, Chakula Investments will support selected youth from Usakos to establish and operate a fully-fledged butchery, providing hands-on training in business management and daily operations. Chakula will serve as the exclusive supplier of quality meat products including meat, russians, polony, and other protein products — ensuring consistent stock and reliable service to the Usakos community.

As part of its commitment to this initiative, Usakos Town Council will provide a stall at the soon to be completed SME Park, where two local youths will be capacitated to manage and run the franchise.

This partnership is a direct expression of Council's dedication to youth development and aligns with Government's national priority of empowering young people through sustainable enterprise. It also promises Usakos residents affordable, quality access to protein products right here in town.

Usakos Town Council remains committed to creating opportunities that place youth at the centre of local economic growth.

The Usakos Town Council hereby informs residents and interested parties of its intention to sell Erf 1, Erongosig, by way of private transaction for the purpose of constructing residential units.

The property, measuring 1.7551 hectares, is intended for sale to Pelican Guest House CC at a purchase price of N$737,200.00, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Local Authorities Act, 1992, as amended, and Council Resolution OCM/0045/23/07/2026.

Members of the public who wish to object to the intended sale are invited to submit their objections in writing, together with the grounds for objection, in a sealed envelope clearly marked:
