Our Story
The Namibia National Commission for UNESCO was established on the 21st January of 1992 in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia. It operates as an organ under the Ministry for Higher Education.
Set up by the respective government in accordance with the Article VII of the UNESCO Constitution, the Namibia National Commission operates, on a permanent basis, for the purpose of associating its governmental and non-governmental bodies in education, sciences, culture and communication with the work of the UNESCO.
Acting as an agency of consultation, liaison and information, and mobilising and coordinating partnerships with national partners, including the civil society, the National Commission makes also substantial contributions in the advancement of UNESCO’s objectives and in the implementation of its programme.
