Under former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government embarked on major projects including the Abuja/Kaduna railway, Lagos/Ibadan railway, the Second Niger Bridge, the Lekki Deep Sea Port and other infrastructure projects. The Buhari administration also provided bailout funds to states, made payments relating to federal road projects, paid oil-producing states their 13% derivation, while still spending heavily on fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy, education and efforts to support the naira.

Now, under President Bola Tinubu, ordinary Nigerians are asking: with the removal of fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy and other measures that were expected to save government money, where are the savings?

The cost of living keeps rising, the naira remains under pressure, and many people say they are not seeing enough improvement in their daily lives.

For some Nigerians, this comparison has led to one conclusion: Buhari may have performed better than Tinubu in terms of visible government spending and infrastructure.

Tinubu's government is a disaster to many people and a blessing to few people.

That is the complaint coming from the Nigeria streets.

A U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., has reportedly given the FBI, DEA, DOJ and President Bola Tinubu until August 28, 2026 to oppose the public release of documents allegedly connected to a past U.S. drug-trafficking investigation involving Tinubu. Judge Beryl Howell has reportedly authorized the FBI to submit the documents privately to the court so she can determine whether they should remain confidential before deciding on the request for public release.

The report, citing Washington-based consultant Dr. Karl Von Batten, claims the FBI considers the documents “highly sensitive” and suggests they could involve information about a criminal informant. Batten further alleges that Tinubu may have provided information about alleged associates in exchange for protection from prosecution. These remain allegations and interpretations presented by Batten, not established facts in the article. The court is expected to review the documents privately after the August 28 deadline and then decide whether any of them can be released publicly.

StreetIntel report:

Omoyele Sowore has condemned the NDLEA for destroying cannabis reportedly worth millions of dollars, describing the action as a waste of economic opportunity.

Sowore called on the government to stop destroying cannabis farms and instead consider legalising and properly regulating cannabis.

He argued that regulation could support research, unlock its medicinal and industrial potential, create jobs, generate government revenue and help build an industry that Nigerians can benefit from.

These evil people had to sacrifice close to 50 lives in violence before and during the Osun election, all just to prove that “agreement is agreement.”

And when I said GOV ADEMOLA ADELEKE has nothing upstairs, it took him less than 24 hours after INEC declared him the winner to announce that he was supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s re-election because Tinubu is a Yoruba man.

Yet the people who lost their lives in the violence were mostly Yoruba people. Neither side has said anything about those killed. Who killed them? Who ordered or enabled the violence? Who is investigating their deaths? Where is the justice for their families?

To them, what appears paramount is protecting family political interests, securing power and preserving access to the spoils of government, while ordinary Nigerians are left to carry the pain, grief and sorrow.

Wicked people
