EBONYI GOVERNORSHIP SUPREME COURT VERDICT: LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO THE ODOHZIA EBONYI SUPPORT GROUPS

My dear brothers and sisters,
Following the decision of the Supreme Court yesterday that validated the declaration of Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru as the Governor of Ebonyi State by INEC, the Ebonyi 2023 Governorship electoral activities has conclusively come to an end. Our principal, Prof. Benard Ifeanyi Odo has welcomed the verdict and urged all supporters to "remain strong and committed to every good cause". Consequently, our job is done.

I thank all members of the more than twenty OdohziaEbonyi support groups across the state. Your dedication, sacrifices, donations, and energy were very helpful during the campaigns. It was very tough; our principal and many of us were hounded, threatened and persecuted by state actors, some of us were physically assaulted while some even lost their lives in the struggle but we remained resilient and courageous. No regrets at all; we stood our ground based on our conviction that Prof. Benard Odoh⁩ was the best candidate for the job. With minimal financial resources, we used our God-given brilliance and intelligence and won the hearts of Ebonyi people with our inspiring and heartwarming campaign messages.

I thank our leaders, Prof. Odoh and Dr. Nkata Chuku for giving me the opportunity to coordinate their support groups. Their integrity made our job relatively easy. Their courage and leadership kept us going even at the most difficult times. It was really a good learning experience for me, and I believe the rest of our supporters. Thanks to all the founders, coordinators and volunteers of the various support groups. I also appreciate those who donated monies and branded campaign materials to support the campaign. Special appreciation to the media who gave us fair coverage and visibility. Let me specifically thank the Africa Independent Television (AIT) for the special reports and interviews following the Iboko attack on our convoy on 20th October 2022, despite denials and cover-up by the state authorities. I am super proud of all of you. 💪🏾

Please let us continue to pray for the families of our colleagues who were killed in the course of the campaigns, and offer support to them in anyway you can. May God continue to bless you and all your good endeavours. 🙏🏾

PRESS STATEMENT

EBONYI GOVERNORSHIP: WE ACCEPT SUPREME COURT'S DECISION IN GOOD FATE - PROF. ODOH.

In lieu of the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria today, being the 12th of January, 2024 affirming the election of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC as the duly-elected Governor of Ebonyi State, may I on behalf of my Campaign Council and members of our great Party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA congratulate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his victory.

Recall that we at the Odohzia Campaign Council had taken very active part in the March 18th, 2023 Governorship election beginning with our primaries in May 2022, running a successful, issues-based campaigns anchored on our transformative 'Hope Alive' manifesto.

Dissatisfied with the announcement of the APC candidate as the winner amidst allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and issues bothering on his membership of the ruling Party, we had in May last year approached the Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Abuja and delivered it's judgement in September last year. Following the 3-man panel's decision dismissing our petition, we had also approached the Court of Appeal which sat in Lagos. The Appellate Court also in it's wisdom found no merit in our case, prompting us to approach the apex Court of the land in December 2023.

The 5-man panel of the Supreme Court in it's wisdom has again upheld the decisions of the two lower Courts, dismissing our petition alongside that of the PDP candidate. We welcome this verdict in good fate and I urge my supporters to remain strong, committed to every good cause and above all keep their eyes on the ball as the ultimate goal is to have a democracy that is not only seen to be working but ultimately delivers good dividends to all and sundry.

As a leader who has occupied sensitive position in government, we would continue to offer ourselves and make reasonable contributions to the governance affairs of our beloved State wherever and whenever such duty calls even as we keep the hopes alive for a better and more prosperous Ebonyi State that will remain mutually beneficial to residents, visitors and tourists and whoever transacts with or resides in the land.
