*WDC OGUN STATE CHAIRMAN COMMENDS STRONG PARTNERSHIP AT AGBARA HEALTH CENTRE, INSPECTS NESTLÉ-FUNDED HEALTH PROJECT*

_Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State / Monday 3rd August 2026_

*The State Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, on Tuesday paid a Quality Assurance Visit to Agbara Health Centre in Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, as part of the Council's commitment to strengthening Primary Health Care services across Ogun State.*

The State Chairman was warmly received by members of the *WDC Agbara, led by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Adewunmi.* Also participating in the visit was the *State Vice Chairman, Hon. Kayode Ojumo,* who joined virtually and appreciated the State Chairman for extending the quality assurance exercise to Agbara Ward.

During the visit, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab commended the cordial working relationship between the Ward Development Committee and the health workers at the facility, led by the *Officer-in-Charge, Matron Adeosun A. O.* He described the strong collaboration as a model worthy of emulation and encouraged both parties to sustain the peaceful partnership, noting that effective cooperation among stakeholders remains essential for improving Primary Health Care service delivery.

The WDC Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Adewunmi, and the Officer-in-Charge expressed appreciation to the State Chairman for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of responsive leadership. They assured him of their continued commitment to supporting the objectives of the Ward Development Committee as partners in progress.

As part of the visit, the State Chairman and his team paid a courtesy visit to the palace of *HRM Oba Barr Lukman Jayeola Agunbiade Olute III Alagbara of Agbara* to appreciate the traditional ruler for his unwavering support to the Ward Development Committee and the development of the health facility within the community.

The delegation also inspected the ongoing construction project at *Agbara Health Centre being executed by Nestlé Nigeria Plc* as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The project, facilitated through the efforts of the WDC Agbara, is expected to enhance the infrastructure and quality of healthcare services available to residents of the community.

The Ward Development Council, Ogun State Council, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting effective community participation, strategic partnerships, and continuous quality improvement in Primary Health Care facilities across all communities in Ogun State.

*WDC OGUN STATE CHAIRMAN VISITS IJEJA PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE TO STRENGTHEN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES*

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community awareness and improve the utilization of Primary Health Care (PHC) services across Ogun State, *the State Chairman of the Ward Development Council (WDC), Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* paid a working visit to *Ijeja Primary Health Centre in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.* He was accompanied by the Abeokuta South Chairman of Chairmen and other members of the Ward Development Council.

The visit provided an opportunity to assess ongoing community health initiatives, engage with WDC members, and reinforce the Council's commitment to promoting functional Primary Health Care facilities at the grassroots. The State Chairman commended the local WDC leadership for their dedication and encouraged sustained collaboration among stakeholders to improve access to quality healthcare services for community members.

WDC OGUN STATE LEADS PRIMARY HEALTH CARE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT OSIELE MARKET

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community awareness and improve the utilization of *Primary Health Care (PHC) services,* *the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council*, under the leadership of the *State Chairman, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* on Wednesday, 29th July 2026, carried out a public awareness campaign at *Osiẹle Market.*

The State Chairman was represented by the *WDC State Youth Leader, Mr. Oke Ayoleke Z.,* who led the sensitization exercise alongside members of the *Osiele PHC Ward Development Committee (WDC),* the *Officer-in-Charge (OIC)* of the facility, and the *facility's Vocal Person.*

The awareness programme featured the distribution of information flyers, one-on-one engagement with market traders, and public sensitization on the importance of accessing healthcare services through Primary Health Care Centres. Members of the public were also enlightened on the various healthcare interventions and improvements put in place by the Ogun State Government to ensure quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services at PHC facilities.

The exercise recorded a positive response from traders and members of the public, with the successful distribution of awareness materials and increased public understanding of the benefits of utilizing Primary Health Care services.

WDC OGUN STATE COUNCIL ADVOCATES STRONGER LEGAL FRAMEWORK TO REDUCE MATERNAL MORTALITY AT STAKEHOLDERS' FORUM

The *Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council,* has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safe motherhood and reducing maternal mortality by advocating for a stronger legal framework to protect the lives and health of women across Ogun State.

This position was presented by the *State Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* at the *Stakeholders' Forum on the Bill for a Law to Reduce Maternal Morbidity and Mortality, Promote Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights, and Establish the Conditions for the Safe Termination of Pregnancy in Accordance with Legal Indications,* held at the *Conference Room, Ogun State House of Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.*

The stakeholders' engagement, organised by the *Trust and Support Foundation (TSF)* in collaboration with the *Technical Working Group on Maternal Health and the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board,* brought together lawmakers, health sector experts, development partners, civil society organisations, and other key stakeholders to review the proposed legislation and make recommendations for improving maternal health outcomes in the state.

Delivering the position of the *WDC Ogun State Council, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* declared that *"no woman should lose her life while giving life,"* describing the proposed bill as a critical intervention that would strengthen the legal and policy framework for maternal healthcare, protect the dignity of women, and further reduce preventable maternal deaths.

He commended the *Ogun State Government and the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board* for their sustained investment in Primary Health Care, maternal and child health programmes, and healthcare infrastructure, noting that the proposed legislation would consolidate the gains already recorded in the health sector.

The WDC State Chairman reaffirmed the readiness of the Ward Development Committee to continue supporting government initiatives through its network across the *236 wards in Ogun State,* particularly in the areas of community mobilisation, health education, advocacy, citizen participation, and grassroots sensitisation.

He further called for sustained investment in Primary Health Care, continuous capacity building for healthcare workers, improved availability of essential medicines, strengthened emergency obstetric services, and deeper collaboration among government institutions, development partners, and community stakeholders.

According to him, _effective implementation of the proposed legislation, backed by strong community engagement, would significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes and ensure that every woman has access to safe, affordable, and quality healthcare services._

The Ward Development Committee (WDC) Ogun State Council successfully held its July 2026 State Meeting on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026, hosted by the WDC Ikenne Local Government Chapter. The meeting was presided over by the *State Chairman, Alh. Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* and served as a strategic platform for strengthening collaboration among key stakeholders towards sustainable Primary Health Care (PHC) development across Ogun State.

The meeting also featured a high-level strategic engagement with the Executive Chairman of Ikenne Local Government Area, reaffirming the commitment of both the government and community structures to improving healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.

*Meeting Objectives*
The meeting focused on the following strategic priorities:

Dr. Coker was among distinguished personalities formally inducted into the Club in recognition of their exemplary leadership, outstanding professional accomplishments, and invaluable contributions to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Primary Health Care service delivery across Ogun State, the *State Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* paid a quality assurance visit to *Sabo Health Centre, Abeokuta North Local Government Area*

The State Chairman was accompanied by the WDC Chairman of Chairmen in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaji Tokunbo Akinfenwa, who led the delegation to the facility. Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by the *Officers-in-Charge (OIC)* and *members of the Sabo Ward Development Committee (WDC).*

During the visit, the State Chairman inspected the facility, assessed ongoing activities, and interacted with WDC members and health workers. He commended them for the positive efforts and good practices observed at the health centre, while also identifying areas requiring improvement.

The Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, held a strategic engagement meeting with the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and representatives of the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board at SS Peter and Paul Cathedral, Isale-Ake, Abeokuta.

The meeting brought together the leadership of WDC Ogun State, led by the State Chairman, *Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP,* alongside representatives of JDPC, officials of the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, and other key stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening community participation, health awareness, and Primary Health Care service delivery across the state.

The programme was moderated by *Mr. Olaitan Olumide of JDPC,* while the *Deputy Director of JDPC, Mrs. Ireti Disu*, was also in attendance. In her remarks, the Deputy Director of JDPC, Mrs. Ireti Disu, commended the commitment of the WDC Ogun State leadership and participants. She specifically called on the State Chairman, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, JP, and the WDC structure across Ogun State to work towards developing and strengthening a sustainable awareness creation framework that will provide clear guidance for community sensitization, stakeholder engagement, information dissemination, and public health advocacy at the grassroots level.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of WDC Ogun State, JDPC, Civil Society Organizations, and health sector stakeholders to working together in promoting healthier communities and improving access to quality Primary Health Care services throughout the state.
