ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND RESCUES SIX ABDUCTED CHILDREN ARRESTS SUSPECT FOR CONSPIRACY AND CHILD TRAFFICKING

SUSPECT
1.Nnamdi Lazarus, Male, 51 years, from Mbano, Imo State

RESCUED CHILDREN
1.Nnenna Ogbuogu, female, 5 years
2.Nwanne Ogbuogu, female, 3 years
3.Amanda Iheke Emmanuella, female, 3 years
4.Destiny Iheke Emmanuel, male, 7 years
5.Anointing Iheke Emmanuel, male, 5 years
6.Ihechi Obasi, male, 7 years

FACTS OF THE CASE
1.Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Aba North, apprehended one Nnamdis Lazarus, a 51-year-old male from Mbano in Imo State, currently residing in Uratta Aba, Abia State . The suspect was found harbouring and keeping the following children:
A.Nnenna Ogbuogu (5 years) and Nwanne Ogbuogu (3 years), both from Abriba, Abia State;

B.Amanda Iheke Emmanuella, female, 3 years, Destiny Iheke Emmanuel (7 years) and Anointing Iheke Emmanuel (5 years), from Item, Abia State;

C.Ihechi Obasi (7 years), also from Item, Abia State.

2.All six rescued children have been safely reunited with their families. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the child trafficking syndicate. The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

3.The Abia State Police Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property through intelligence-led policing. The Command assures residents that there will be no hiding place for criminal elements within the State.

ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND APPREHENDS 13 SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERY UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FI****MS AND VANDALIZATION OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY; RECOVERS ARMS AND OTHER EXHIBITS

SUSPECTS
Fourteen (13) male suspects aged between 20 and 27 years.

EXHIBITS RECOVERED
1.One locally made pistol
2.One locally made single-barrel gun
3.Two live cartridges
4.One Beretta pistol
5.One pump-action gun
6.Six live cartridges
7.One cutlass
8.One axe
9.Substances suspected to be hard drugs
10.Walkie-talkies
11.One face mask
12.Two red berets and one black beret

FACTS OF THE CASE
1.The Abia State Police Command has continued to record significant successes in its kinetic and non-kinetic operational strategies in combating crime across the State, leveraging actionable intelligence.

2.Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) intercepted and apprehended Uchenna Agbneiwu, aged 27, a native of Nkume in Orlu LGA of Imo State, but residing at Ubakala, Umuahia. He was found in possession of a vandalized large galvanized pipeline concealed with sawdust in a white Toyota Hiace bus. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.

3.On 02/08/2026, operatives of the VCRU, Aba North, apprehended Williams Ifeanyi, aged 27, of Market Road, Aba. The suspect, at gunpoint, accosted and dispossessed a victim of his bag and personal belongings along Market Road by Rail. A pistol and live cartridges were recovered from him.

4.Similarly, leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Urratta Divisional Police Station arrested John Chigozie 25 years old and David Anyaka 26 years old who were involved in an armed robbery incident at a hotel in Aba on 01/08/2026. A pistol and live ammunition were recovered. Investigation is ongoing.

5.Furthermore, on 04/08/2026, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Bende Road, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended members of a violent criminal group (cultists) during their meeting at Umuezeagwu, Umuahia North. The suspects were arrested and the following items were recovered: one pump-action gun, one Beretta pistol, live cartridges, one cutlass, one axe, substances suspected to be hard drugs, walkie-talkies, one face mask, two red berets, and one black beret. Investigation is ongoing.

6.The Command reiterates its commitment to the protection of lives and property, prevention and detection of crime, and the maintenance of law and order. Abians are encouraged, as partners in crime prevention, to provide timely information on security concerns to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND SENDS OFF AIG DANLADI ISA

Yesterday 01/08/2026, the Abia State Police Command successfully held a send-off ceremony in honour of AIG Danladi Isa, the 34th Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command. He was recently meritoriously promoted and decorated by the Inspector-General of Police and has been redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna.

The event brought together the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR who was ably represented by the Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba alongside government officials, heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), and senior officers of the Command.

The Governor commended AIG Danladi Isa for his professionalism, hard work, prompt response, and commitment to excellence in ensuring the security of lives and property in the state. He congratulated him on his well-deserved promotion and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The event concluded with goodwill messages and warm felicitations as dignitaries and stakeholders celebrated and congratulated AIG Danladi Isa on his meritorious promotion and redeployment to his new place of primary assignment.
