RE: ONLINE ALARM ON ALLEGED UNLAWFUL DETENTION BY ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND

The Abia State Police Command is aware of the online alarm raised by Mrs. Chioma Chikadibia, alleging the unlawful detention of her husband, Mr Sunday Chikadibia and their three daughters by the Command. These claims are misleading, untrue, and intended to misinform the public.

The Command hereby clarifies that the individuals in question were arrested as suspects and accessories to an investigation of a kidnapping and murder case. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects were duly arraigned in court and are presently remanded at the Correctional Centre by the order of a competent court of jurisdiction.

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, advises members of the public to desist from shielding criminal suspects, as doing so makes them accomplices to crime, an act which constitutes a criminal offence under Nigerian law.

The Abia State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Danladi Isa, remains committed to professionalism, compliance with the rule of law, and people-friendly policing, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police. The Command assures the public that internal discipline and accountability among officers will be upheld as they carry out their constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and property in Abia State.
